If you are going heavy with the SPS then leave a good deal of space near the top.
I'd probably have one tower or island that rises up near the surface (cause I like that look) but then throughout the rest of the tank leave yourself more growing room than you think you need, you'll have that space filled in soon enough...
What's your plans for the overflow? Are you going to scape all the way around it and make it a center tower?

Well I went to Grangier this morning and ordered these Roller Track Sets for Bypassing Doors with max weight of 150 lbs.

Yea its overkill but I'll feel safer about whats hanging over my tank.
I went to an industrial storage company that sells the brackets to make shelves. The are long L brackets with holes pre-drilled through out. I got five 8 ft. pieces and had one of them cut in half. I will have pictures of everything in a couple days to give you an idea of what I am doing.
I ordered something similar from mcmaster for my light. It was way overkill but considering what I spent on my light fixture it was a must.
I kinda got the idea from either your build or someone who did it previously. So many have done this type before me so I will just say thanks to the early predecessors.

Its well worth it. Itsunami do easy to just slide the fixture out when I need to get into the tank. you'll be very happy that you went that route.

I have recently joined RC and have enjoyed your build so far, keep up the strong efforts. Your light system appears well reasoned. As an FYI I used a chandelier lift for my lights which are mounted underneath a platform. The lift is rated at 300lbs and allows me to position the lights at any level over my 525. I am currently running AI sols at 18" over the water level. Have not checked Par but the few coral in my relatively new system appear to be thriving. Good luck.
Please tell me that you have already made sure that those hooks are into framing, and not just through sheet rock. Or at the least, that you plan to double check? Also, I'd switch to a hook that has a lil more meat on the bones.
BTW, I believe I saw you at the last TBRC meet I went to before moving out of state back in Febuary. (I'm now in Maine)
These are the bolts/screws I will use for holding and hanging the fixture.

I was the big Bald guy, Name is Dana. The gentleman had his filtration setup in a real short shed outside the home, with a big tank in one room, and exposed through the wall in the kitchen/dining room.
Wayne, looks good and would agree on beefing up the hangers on ceiling. Don't want to fry tank and your fixture in one day!
I have two supervisors much like yours, they tend to snort at me some![]()
It is getting more exciting Wayne!
One little suggestion. I see you are using zinc plated eye bolts/screws...
I used them on my old system and they started to rust after a short period of time. I went with stainless steal this time. The same size were rated for additional weight and they don't rust!
