600 Gallon Upgrade Build

Hi Wayne, I have been enjoying your build for some time, great to see you plugging away. Are you worried about the OSB deteriorating from the moisture over time?

Thanks for following my build. What does OSB mean?

OSB is typically not recommended for anything reef too because of the possibility of it leaching chemicals. OSB is just chips of wood basically glued together with various chemicals and compressed. Always recommended to use plywood but cannot speak form experience that it's really a large risk.

Went to the HD and got the real thing. Thanks Dustin for the good eye.

I mean Dan. Thanks and I'm sorry for the mix up. I was replying to you and had Dustin's build on the brain.

Hmm, My stand is home built with 2x's and osb sheething, then I went over teh osb with oak plywood, would that be ok? Or is it one of those things where you don't want it any where near the tank/sump setup?

That would suck, I spent alot of time & money redoing that stand! :(

I don't know. More than likely I will move it and redo the stand again.

The difference between the regular hybrid and the gold hybrid is the motor uses less wattage and they have a 5 year warranty compared to the 3 year warranty on the regular pump.

You happen to have specs on that pump? I have two of the snapper/dart hybrids but would consider golds if wattage is significantly better!

I guess I did not realize the gold existed or I would have likely bought them when I bought my other two. Guess on the next 2-3 I buy I'll get the Golds. Looks like wattage is only a couple watt difference but they are to be quieter and 2 more years on the warranty.

Reeflo does a good job with high quality pumps. I went with the hammerhead gold on my Chiller loop. Only issue was vibration noise which required me to move it into my basement. I suspect you guys will be pleased.

I knew they existed but didn't know they had hybrid versions. But they do have great customer service. Mine shipped without the hybrid propellor and the rep placed it in the mail and I should be getting them next week. The extra two years is a plus. It sucks that they aren't using the Baldor motor.

I have seen mostly Reeflo pumps used in LFSs especially the one you use.

No I do not use the hybirds mine are the super gold darts both running wide open.....quiet as can be you dont even know they are on ..........my friend gave me the material that they wrap the pipes with on the million dollar yachts with so you dont even hear water running in the pipes and Im getting ready to wrap all the exterior pipes so it will be dead silent........its already at a level where anyone that comes over to see it for the first time always asks are the pumps on and cant believe how quiet it is lol...... Im running over 7000 gal per hour through the sump and its almost silent
