Other then looking into other moving companies, I am also going to look into maybe setting this tank up on the first floor... I have a place it would fit... I need to look into reinforcement, it will not be easy with the finished basement, but maybe getting that done and the tank on the first story will be ALOT cheaper then getting it down the stairs... Also I am only 25 and I am not planning on this being my final house... Not planning on moving for 8-10yrs or so, but I would like to take the tank with me when I move, even if I do go with a bigger tank in the new house... So if it's going to cost me 1k to get it down, it will prob cost me 2k in 10yrs to get it up :( I can tell you now though, if it does make it into the basement and it would cost 2k to bring it up, it will be staying LOLââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦

Shawn I'm doing my tank on the first floor, but this was the plan from day one when I designed and builded the house. One think to remember is this tank is going to waight 6000 to 10000lbs with sumps and everything related to it, so heayduty reinforcement is a must. When I builded my house I had 12"concrete basement walls poured, two 18" steel I beams under the tank that are supported with 5x5x3/4" steel tubes with special footings under them poured and I did put every 8" TGI joists under the tank. I'm not saying you can't put the tank on the first floor, but it maybe the same or even more to suport the floor then what it is to move the tank to the basement. Also what are you doing being married at 25? (that is from someone who is with the same woman for 15 years since I was 19):D

After talking with some people and looking at my house... Putting it on the first floor is not an option I think... Like Travis pointed out I planned it in the basement for a reason... I am sticking to my original plan and it will go into the basement... I called the one moving company back and he stated that it could run like 1200-1500 :( so even more then what Jeff quoted... But in calling the Piano movers today, they stated that they can do it for $550.00... It's not cheap but better then 1k+... Dave is going to come out around 4pm to look around but should find nothing wrong, he just wants to make sure before he commits to anything... He stated that he might be able to get it the move done Tues or Wed next wk...

As for being 25 and married, Lets just say I found one I couldn't let go of ;)

Shawn I know it is hard to dish $1000, but I do not think you are going to find much better deal plus the time you are going to wait for everyone to come out and check it out is a waist. Call you guy offer him 750 cash and go from there and be done with it the next couple days.

I am sure Jeff will not come off his 1k price and that is fine, he will prob not be making the move if Dave from the Piano moving company works out... Also Jeff stated that he would be like Thur or Fri next wk soonest... If Dave finds nothing wrong it would be $550.00 and could be done Tues or Wed maybe....

That was a great idea to try the piano movers. And $550 sounds like a more than fair price for a tank that size.

Being married at 25 is not so bad. I'm 26 and just got married last May.;) When you find a woman that doesn't care how much time and money you spend on your tank, you need to make sure she doesn't get away.:D

/sigh, another one bits the dust... Dave (Columbus Paino Moving) just left after looking around and stated that with it being 48" wide he did not feel comfortable doing it... I think he was going to try to brute strength it and after seeing the stand, then backed out :(

She doesn't care about the money I spend as I only spend what I can after taking care of the "needs" first... As for time, I do spend alot on my tank(s) but like to spend more with her...

Arg. Your thread is really starting to scare me now. I can't get over how hard of a time you're having trying to get that tank moved. Do you know how much it weighs? I'm really surprised a good 8-10 guys can't move it.... then again, I never saw a 600 gallon tank in person. I was amazed how big my 180 was the first time I saw it without water!

I think those day labors might be a south-west thing :-) He's from Ohio.

I am just having a hard time because I don't want to pay a grand + LOL, I am sure I could have had it in the basement on the stand already if money was no object, I am trying to do this project "cost effectively" and up to this point I had been on track until the move went up 800.00+ from what I was planning :(

The shipping invoice stated like 1352lbs or so for tank, pallet and some things in the tank (BK skimmer and controller and things)... I have wanted to get a weight of the BK400 and I would say that the pallet weights a hundred or two, so would say 1000-1100 for the tank... Getting 10 guys is not really a problem the problem is getting it into the basement safely... 4 to 5 movers can move bigger things alot easier then 8 to 10 "normal" guys, for two reasons:

1) Less people involved...
2) They do it everyday...

All I can say is next time I will be having it built on site as it would end up costing about the same if not less...

When I was taking pics of all the equ I missed this one...

Shawn where did you get the moon lights and atmospheric controler?

From thelebos.com... I ordered a smaller set from him about a year or so ago for my FW tank and I loved them... This one is a set of 21 that I will be mounting to the light rack once I get it completed...

Ok call me a newbie, but what is the atmospheric controller for? You going to try to control the weather up there in Ohio? :D

Seriously is that for your fish room temperature and humidity?
