I feel your anger, my wife is the most impatient little girl in the world IMO ;) *hope she doesn`t read this*

Hopefully the tank will arrive today and we can see some smiley faces.

It will not be today... It will prob not be until next wk I am thinking... Jeff from Custom Movers is just coming out to look at everything and see what will be needed to get the tank into the basement...

Well Jeff with Custom Movers came out and looked around, took a couple of pics and wrote some things down... He said he would take what he has and talk to a few of his guys and get back with me tomorrow on what will be needed and a price...

I had a 500 gal tank I set up last year and I had a hard time getting a moving company to move it. The one company that did move it for me charged $500 and only had to slide it off my pickup, move it 8 ft. and set it on a 30 inch stand. It's an island set-up so they could move around the stand. They came and didn't have no equipment to pick the tank up. I had bought 4 suction cups for picking up glass and that was what they used to move the tank. Four huge 300lbs. + guys to move this tank with one supervisor. It took all 6 of us to bring the tank in, and we almost lost it setting it on the stand. It's been up and running for almost a year. I would never get a glass tank that large again, It's too hard to find someone to move them. Hopefully your will have yours set in place soon. It's well worth all the aggravation once it's up and running.

I wonder if Will would have been able to assemble the tank on location... shipping and mover costs should have paid for hotel costs, food and booze (after it's finished) :)

I would have had Will come and build the tank onsite if I knew I as going to have all of these problems, would have been the same if not even cheaper... Next time the tank will prob be glass again and it will more then likely be built onsite, or at least put in as the house is being built...

Hdtvguy had his tank built onsite. Have you checked out his thread? It`s a 300gl.

That is correct Knyght. I would never move a large tank again. Having the tank built on the stand in your house is the way to go. So much easer IMO. I have pictures of the build if you click my homepage button above.

Yes, I remember... And if I remember right I believe hdtvguy put it together his self ??

Maybe not, After looking at your pics again I see a guy in a "Salt Water Connection" shirt...

I was sub-contracted a few years ago to plumb a 5,500 gallon tank. It was dropped into the house with a crane before the roof was totally finished. The stand structure was made from huge steel I beams. Too bad i was not allowed to take any pictures in the house because it was a famous persons house. I wish I had snuck some pictures though. that was an impressive aquarium.

Got a call from Jeff with Custom Movers today and well, guess what figure he came back with.... 1k :eek2: He stated that he would pretty much be charging me for the time of his 5 guys... I am in the wrong business, I need to bulk up and move stuff for a living... If they are here for 2hrs and there are 5 guys, that is 100.00 an hr/per guy...

just got finished w/this thread. Was thinking of this exact size for my future dream tank. kinda discouraging about the moving issue though. i hope it all works out well for you. if i was there i would have worked out while you were waiting for the tank and helped you myself. hahah. good luck

Imbuggin had a similar situation, 5 movers came to move his tank upstairs and charged a good amount of money for it... the best though was that the four guys wrapped the tank in moving blankets and skid wrap then sat around and waited for 30 mins for the bossman to arrive. the bossman arrived, threw the tank on his back, and moved the tank up the stairs BY HIMSELF. 330 gallon acrylic

UN FN BELIEVABLE!!!

Just got finished with the thread...With all the crap that went on, would it be at all possible for u to get a few people together and rent a uhaul? Or do you not want to rick that?
