6105 fixed shaft came out

Hi Rodger,

I have 2 of the fixed shaft 6105's and I noticed one wasn't spinning.

When I pulled it apart to clean it the shaft came out of the motor block and is seized on prop assembly.

2 questions here.

1 - is this something that has been occurring with this new design?
2 - is there any way I can fix it?

I'll contact Aquadepot over here but due to shear volume of sales I figure if there was any trending worldwide you would have seen it.

Thanks

Adam

1) Of course on the old design, since the shaft was not fixed, the same thing occurred but was less of an issue, you could simply seperate the pieces and reassemble. If you encounter resistance removing a drive unit, never force it. What I do here is use a rod to push the shaft in while pulling and twisting on the magnet, it is the only way to prevent this damage. So, yes, we do see this when they lock up solid and are forced out, but their are ways to prevent the damage and this is not unique to the new design, it just has more potential to damage the pump.

2) In general if the fit is still tight, I clean and dry the shaft and pump, especially the hole the shaft recesses into. I then apply a drop of super glue to the base of the shaft and using a small hammer and a punch with a recessed end to securely hold the shaft, I tap it in until it is fully seated.

Thanks - I'll need to pull it apart and see if the prop will spin freely on the shaft.

Good to know I can try and superglue back in.

Thanks again.
