6105 vs 6155?

Hi there,

I've had Tunzes for a while and I'm very happy with them on my 46G bowfront. However, seeing as I'm upgrading to a 178g 60l*30w*24h soon I was looking at the 6105 (with jumper and wide flow kit) and the new 6155 that'll soon come out.

If I look at your updated flow ratings the difference is 13k vs 15k liters, same footprint and the 6155 is 100 USD more expensive?

Why would I go with one over the other? I'm just confused as to the $100 increase for 2000l or 500g more.

Thank you in advance for your response,

Most of the cost of a 6155 is a much stronger magnet holder, a 6155 magnet holder sticks on up to 1" thick glass. For the most part if you wont have really thick glass, the 6105 is the way to go. The magnet holders are quite expensive for such thick glass.

I am also interested in this thread, as I am planning a 150g Lee Mar tank (60x24x24) and am trying to figure out the flow situation. Saw the 6105/6155 and have done a little research, but am not sure what all of the differences are. Would 2 of these powerheads be sufficient along with the return from my center overflow, or would I still need more flow? I was thinking about also using a Wavebox Nano, but it is so ugly.

6105 is the mass market controllable pump, it suits the majority of applications as it includes now two outlet nozzles, 1 for long and narrow tanks up to 8ft long and 2ft wide and one for wide shot tanks up to 5ft long and 3ft wide. 6155 is slightly stronger but is mainly for large tank applications where the glass is very thick, it includes a magnet holder for over 1" glass.
