7,000 litres Natural reef tank - Thailand

This will be another epic build a little unconventional but amazing like Ching chai.

Good luck sir and reef gods are smiling above.

Very interested in that bacteria extract!
Fish room looks fantastic as well.
This surely will be an epic display. Can't wait to watch as it matures and the diversity of organisms flourish !!!

nice setup. greetings from pak nam bran, pranburi. say hi to jay from wordwidereef in bangkok. he has shown me pictures of your installation two weeks ago when i visited him in jj-market. greets, chris-pranburi, thailand

Greeting to you too ! Are you from Australia ?

Due to the 2 inch eductor producing too strong waves , Therefore we have to remove the two sea sweeps and opted only to use 2 conch wave makers.

Is it an overcast day? There doesn't seem to be much light from the solotube. Are you worried the diffuser will change the light spectrum/intensity?

Can you please post the specs on your mangrove sprinkler system.

Nozzle brand, pipe size, and pump would be appreciated.

I'm also curious about the distance from the top of the mangrove to the lights- did you leave enough room for it to grow? What's a good distance for proper lighting using T5s?

We measured the light intensity from right beneath the solatube disperser . It was well over 4,000 luxs even on a cloudy day, way over the limit of the light meter I borrowed from the manufacturer. But please bear in mind , this is an outdoor tank so the ambient light is probably even stronger than the light from the diffuser. So for an outdoor tank , you won't get the same effect as the indoor tank .

Makes sense. Thanks sor the reply. Are you happy with the single tube?

Are you going to be happy with the looks of that?

The tank seemed to be maturing very fast , with the shade fully opened to receive direct sunlight from 7 am - 12 am for a week and with newly added light coming from Solatube in the 2nd week . Towards the end of the first week ,brown algae started to grow heavily where there is direct sunlight but where there is no direct sunlight ,the rocks are still clean . However , the brown algae started to peel off very fast at the end of the 2nd week , the rocks now became very clean almost with no brown algae left .At this point I decided to check the ammonia and nitrite level , they are both undetectable . the nitrate is around 25 ppm so I decided to introduce fox face fish . The fish seemed to be happy , grazing and eating food instantly with no sign of stress.
Although I did run the mangrove sump disconnected from the main tank for a month with ATS, refugium and Jaubert 's plenum. I also noticed that brown algae started growing heavily on the ATS screen but nowhere else in the sump. However when the brown algae started to disappear in the main tank , I noticed that the brown algae on the screen started flaking off too . I will post the picture later . All of these happened in two weeks .
So I decided to experiment further by not going to do any water change to get rid of the remaining 25 ppm nitrate but will see whether the system can mature and bring the nitrate down on its own . I will let you know what happens next !!
