wow...amazing job. I'm surprised you arent using big 400watters like I see many people with a tank your size do. AND YOU STILL GET AMAZING GROWTH AND COLOR.

What is your secrect.....other then the lumenarc I guess it must be the 10k XM?? You have what just under 4watts of light per gallon. Thats effeciency.

When your water is extremely clear it takes much less light to maintain and grow a successful reef.

Too many people get caught up on the WPG rule, they focus more on the intensity of the lighting instead of the water quality. If your water is not clear it doesn't matter how bright your lighting is.
Running carbon 24/7 is a MUST for me, I couldn't imagine my tank without it. Carbon along with efficient skimming and weekly water changes is all you need to keep the water clear.

Positioning your corals is also VERY importent. In some cases, placing a coral directly under a MH is detrimental to its health. Many SPS in my tank grow better away from the MH on the outskirts.

Every tank is different as every coral is different. If you are having problems with a coral check the water flow and then reposition the coral is necessary, but try not to move the coral too often.

Now I watch my ORP to determine when to do the water changes.

.....and that number would be?

My ORP usually is around 365-380 Mv, when it reaches 330-340 Mv I change the water.

Absolutely!!! Also, the lower the nutrients in the water the more play you have with how strong the lighting you can use. I have seen a few tanks whose caretakers have awful husbandry practices with beautiful colors because of their 400watt lights being on for 10 to 12 hours a day. That's impressive.... but what is more impressive to me is seeing amazing tanks running 250s. The beauty of these tanks is solid evidence of awesome water quality.

Now, with that said, I will probably go with 400's on my next tank so that I don't have to work as hard

Again, good work Sunny!

 Where's the challage in that?

I am also thinking about getting 400's, but I want them so I can run a bluer bulb, like a Radium without as much hit in PAR.

More pics!

I will have many pics this afternoon.

I picked up a bunch of new corals from Reffermadness.us and will have some pics of them.

I got a Blue Slimer and Yellow Tort, both large colonies, and four more assorted corals. Everything came in looking great with PE in the bag.
They said they were going to send me 3 small frags for free but instead they are more like mini colonies!!!

The yellow Tort is much, much bigger than I thought it would be. It is as big as my hand, and my hands are huge.

As soon as I get home expect some pics guys.

Thanks again,
Sunny

LOL.. You may want to consider the Reflux 400W 10K. The spectrum analysis on Sonjay's site puts them well into the 20K range , which completely conflicts with their 10k branding. However, I have seen some of the most amazing coral colors produced by these bulbs.... And, I believe they last longer than Radiums.

It's afternoon. Pics now sir! :)

Sorry I didnt get any pics up yesterday, I was trying to get my skimmer to skim right.

I glued some frags down with super glue gel to some small rocks and then added epoxy to the bottem of the rocks. I them epoxyed them on to my tanks rockwork. Now my skimmer has not stopped going crazy for almost 36hrs!!!! I threw the epoxy in the trash, FPOS, hopefully when I get home my skimmer will have calmed down.

But I promise some pics today. :D
