7096 Availability?

Hi - I see that the 7096 has a planned availability of Nov 2008. Can you tell me if that is still the case?

Thanks.

It won't be available until Dec or Jan, but it will be worth the wait. I will post an update next week and reveal the new features we added since it was announced

I got to try it out last week. I was very impressed it offered even more than was initially planned. I will outline the features below:

1) True four channel programming, you can set each pump individually.

2) Three modes, Pulse, Interval and Sequential. A pseudo interval 2 can be arranged by setting each individual pump to the speed desired.

3) Interval is not as short as on the 7095. On the 7095 you can have interval as short as 1 second, right now it is one hour but will likely be adjustable down to one minute. Some sacrifices were made to keep the interface clean and simple.

4) Brighter moonlight, the moonlight has triple the candela of the existing 7095 moonlight, for all practical purposes it looks twice as bright. Waterproofing has been improved and the moonlight has an internal quick connect so soldering is no longer required to replace it. New 7095's will have these same features.

5) "Storm Mode" Every hr to 7days you can set a storm which is a random chaos mode with all pumps reaching full flow, the idea is to simulate the cleaning effect of a storm.

6) Wavebox mode with auto tuning. The auto tuning feature works like the seek button on a car stereo, it starts at .30 seconds and advances .01 second every few seconds and you just hit stop after you see a wave form. You can then fine tune and save the setting. This was the coolest feature and was just added.

7) Mac version didn't work, the drivers all work but the interface did not run. Likely there will not be a mac version on initial release but we will get it done and it will be a download on our site when it is finished.

Thanks for the updates Roger! I'm definetly signing up for one of these.

FWIW- They should seriously consider abandoning the dedicated software and going to a simple web interface. I love just typing in a IP address to access my Neptune controller and being able to do all my configuration that way. Plus, it's platform independent then.

It is something we are discussing but we don't have a definite consensus on that yet.

Hi Roger - Thanks for the detailed review. Any word on when these will be released, and if the plan is still to offer them in the $180 range?

The price will likely come down due to the exchange rate, I cannot promise anything on delivery date, that is the goal but that is also a very difficult time to deliver as the factory and our suppliers close for a few weeks for Christmas. Unless it is in route a date is only an educated guess.

Woohoo! I just hope the place I pre-ordered will honor a lower price if it works out that way. (fingers crossed it will not be higher)

If it comes down, yes it will :)

Roger -

I'm not clear on what "interval" means in this context. I have a pair of 6105s facing each other on opposite ends of my tank, and I was thinking I'd try using a controller to alternate them in resonance to create a wave. But I'm sure the resonant frequency is higher than 1/minute (my tank is 60x24x24"). Does the interval limitation on the 7096 preclude this as an option? Would it work with the 7095?

Thanks,

Jeff (vol_reefer)

You would use the wavebox mode on the 7096 to do this, likely the required interval is less than 1 second and even the 7095 couldn't do it.

OK, thanks. As a follow-up, can the wavebox mode on the 7096 be used on two independent channels that aren't in synch? In other words, can it alternate between the two at an appropriate frequency? I ask because when I first read about the wavebox capability on the 7096, I figured it was meant to control a single powerhead attached to a wavebox - didn't think of using to create a wave with two alternating powerheads.

Thanks,

I am fairly certain it can, this would be inverse mode on the 6091 wavebox controller and I am 90% certain the wavebox control has inverse mode on the 7096.
