Well this really suck. I found red bugs on the acro that is encrusted on a large piece of live rock. I really cant treat the tank for red bugs because of my clams one of which is attached to a rock and because of my shrimp, snails and crabs. What to do!?? I will be getting another wrasse for sure to help eat the red bugs. What a bummer.

Yup, know the feeling! lol in the end, id say 75% death rate of shrimps and near 90% for crabs. Hermits in my tank just seemed to have diapeared when It came time to catch them. I swear you think they are easy to get out, but then you try and realize they are no where to be found! crazy.

Also, I am sorry. I know now the emotional toll this takes on a passionate reefer...its a sad sad thing. Also if you are going to treat the tank, which is nearly inevitable in a sps tank, just realize there is going to be enough dieoff to start algae cycles, dinos, cyano to occur. I didnt know that going in so it was a bit of a double slap to the face when it happened in my reef that was quite healthy before the treatment. Good luck and dont be afraid to use more meds than you think it will take. I treated once and it wasnt enough so I am starting my second treatment today.

I may just remove the rock the acro is on and treat it separately. I only see the red bugs on the one acro, most of my remaining sps are montis, BN and millis which red bugs dont tend to eat. But the rock the acro is on is a large rock that is the base of the structure.

Interceptor is safe for clams as far as I know. You must treat the entire tank several times to get rid of the bugs. Ive treated many times without issue. I stopped keeping clams years ago. So I can't speak to long term success/failure with the interceptor and clams. As far as I know there are NO fish that will eliminate red bugs from a tank. The interceptor will not harm snails. You can remove the shrimp and keep it in a separate tank for the treatment. Just don't add any water back into the DT.

I would suggest you up your feedings for that powder blue it's very skinny and it's a beautiful fish and worth some extra nutrients in the tank. :)

Tank is coming along nicely! Keep up the good work. :)

nope didnt bother my clam one bit.
Ok thanks good to know

Yeah I just got the PB so I am working on fattening him up. I have yet to see him eat the nori I put in for him but he loves frozen and flake food.

nice work, like the sunset monti
Thanks. I dont have a sunset monti, wish I did but have not seem any locally for a while now.
looking good
Thank you.

Update on the red bug treatment. After dipping the effected corals in Ivermectin I have seen no more red bugs, I think I got lucky and saw them early. All dipped corals are looking 100% with no color lose or slowed growth.
The tank is doing really great and I am very happy to finally get the colors I have been wanting. Still some bubble algae and green film on the glass but not much and some cyano in a dead spot. I think I need to swap the K2 of my modded MJ until I can get another Evo 1050 or larger. No3 has gone down all no its own from a high of 20ppm to less than 5ppm, barely detectable on test kit. I have been able to increase feeding because of this which makes my fish happier. My SC150 skimmers is still rocking but is a bit louder with the mesh wheel in it. Going to put the pin wheel back in today.

Just a little update. All is doing very well in the reef good growth and color. I repositioned one of my power heads and that seems to have cleared up the cyano in the left corner. Bubble algae is becoming an issue but not overgrowing the tank, just more than I would tolerate. Sunday was my 29th birthday so with a gift card I got I made a trip to 2 LFS. One is Pets Inc and they are closing their doors (sad a nice LFS and I used to work there) so 50% off everything. I got a red headed nano goby and a frag of a blue stag for $10. They told me just fish out what you want the tanks all come down today, I was like yes! Picked up some live bearers for the daughters tank while I was there, 5 for $1. Then I went to Reef Culture and got 3 sps frags. First is a green milli that needs to color up. Also got a tabling acro frag that also needs to color up and looks like it will be very nice once it does. The 3rd was free, I asked if they would make a small frag of a green and pink porci and for how much. They guy told me free and he would make me a nice frag. Ended up with a nice little frag pack a fish and some fresh water fish and only $10 out of my own pocket. I will take pics once the lights come on.
