75g sps build thread

Well things have settled down in the tank. I see no more signs of STN on my corals the remaining sps are healthy and seem to be improving. I wish I knew what bulb came with my new pendant I like the color and the sps are doing well under it. The algae dare I say seems to be in recession. I got 2 green chromis' when I traded in the frags and they are doing well and holding their own with my clowns. I am also getting coralline on the new rocks. I seem to needing more alk now for some reason and I dont want to increase my kalk top off to much in fear of increasing ca. For now super buffer has been helping the alk needs, but it is a pain to dose manually. I will post some pics once I place some frags.

Just when I thought the STN had stopped it has spread to a few other acros. My RP has been slightly effected and was fragged my once really nice FHI Granulosa is gone. All monties, BN, clams, lps and softies are doing great and I have one acro (the one the blenny nipped at) doing well and recovering. I would estimate a 25-30% sps lose at this point. Sucks, I think most of it is low alk. For some reason I have not been able to keep alk up with this tank. Started manual alk dosing which is a pain.

Its been a while since I updated with some pics so here they are. Crappy pics as always.

Yes I know some of my corals browned out a bit but are recovering plus the camera makes them look more brown and does not pick up the corals greens and blues very well.

Yall all suck cause my wife isn't so keen on my reef tank but the kids like it
i have to hide new additions to the tank and let her find them,
then come up with an excuse of why it is there lol

my wife has two accounts hers and mine lol
but keep them seperate as :already been stated

best of luck

ha i have to do that with my girlfriend :( and we dont even live together she just makes sure to look at my tank every day....and then ask where did that come from :uhoh3:

you cant win can ya? Hope things turn around soon. Ad I agree the pics are improving somewhat and its easier to see that the camera is at fault on most pieces for making them look washed out and brown. SOme of you shots show color while some dont. Im guessing the further away from the light you get the better they turn out right?

Yep at the bottom sides is where I get the best pics. I also need to auto balance the white just right and as I move down the tank taking different pics under different lighting the balance changes from really close like the superman pic to more yellowed and browned like how the 5th and 6th pics down turned out. Since my last fraging I have not seen any more STN so I hope I saved my RP, I will be ****ed if I loose it. My Hawkins is STNing as well but it started before the tank move at the shaded base and slowly over a month as moved up, but the top continues to grow and be healthy. I hope it stops as well, looks like it will recover. The acro that the blenny was nipping at is nearly recovered, you can just barely see the marks now. My undata is doing well and I moved it up higher as well as the superman. Caps are all growing and doing great. My 2 clowns, 2 chromis' and 1 yellow tail damsel (yeah I know) are all doing great. I know it will turn around and it should be happening soon, I am already seeing new coralline growth.

Well I broke my skimmer's impeller shaft while clean the skimmer. So now I have no skimmer running on my tank. Plus I leave on Friday for a week. I ordered a new impeller with shaft I just hope it gets here before I leave. I have a friend coming by to check on the tank while Im gone but I dont feel safe leaving it with no skimmer.

just read your thread, and I like the upgrade you did.

As for the camera, auto anything = the devil. If your camera allows you to set your white balance with different presets you should choose something that reasonably resembles the correct colours and always use that setting. Atleast that way you wont have some shots that look good and others that look like your wife took them ;) ;) just kidding!

LOL thanks. My camera has a setting that will measure the light and auto adjust the balance, it works pretty well but I need to adjust for each pic which is a pain.

Yes, got the replacement impeller. The shaft the right but the pin wheel on the new impeller is a bit smaller, enough so that it would effect the GHP rate of the pump weird. Just glad my skimmer will be working while I am gone.

Good luck man! Have a good trip hope you return to a rainbow colored reef without water on the floor or any other major catastrophe!
