75g sps build thread

Oh and I am starting to question the bulb I have been using. I have my Oddysea 20k next to an old Coralife 20k and the Coralife is bluer and brighter than the Oddysea. I was told the Coralife was a few months old and I replaced my Oddysea in June. Might go back to Phoenix 14ks or try out XM 20ks if I can find them for less that $80.

Very nice bro!! I'm glad to see the tank back up and running so quickly. How are your corals/fish handling the move?

Ps. I'm going to have to come over and take some pictures for you.

I think that's a very good idea. If you can swing two new phoenix bulbs go that route.

What have you decided about the leather coral?

Very nice! i bet your fish are loving all the extra space. It looks really nice I like the rock work it looks open room for corals to grow out. Again

Doing good thanks Rippinfraggs, I can get your buckets back when ever.
JG1 going to keep the leather the wife likes it to much or I may make a frag of it if I can convince her.
Thanks afernandez. Yeah the fish are digging the larger tank, the yellow tang is smiwing every where. Before he stuck with the clowns even though they picked on him.

Well everything is doing well it seems like. Minimal stress on my corals and fish. I needed to make some changes to my ATO. Now that my top off bucket is in my stand I had son siphon action going on when the ATO pump turned off. So to fix this I ditched the Mini Jet 404 and got an Aqua Lifter with a check valve. I made a stop at my favorite LFS for some supplies. I picked up some PO4 media the AL pump, a Sixline Wrasse, BiColor Blenny, a purple stag frag and a Ponape BN frag. I also placed most of the frags on the frag rack on the LR. I will take some pics of the tank and corals now that the water has cleared up since setting it up.

Here are some pics with the whit balance set better, still makes corals look brown. Almost everything is doing great, some slight browning and 1 bleaching.

Looking good!!!
The scape is better than the last one. Gonna be covered by corals soon eh?
Why the browning? What do u think is the reason?
Temp? Lighting? Nutrients? Or just transfer stress?
Do keep us posted !!
Happy Reefing ! :)

I have had the exact same results with my transfer. Same coral, different color than yours...

I sure hope you get your color back even though I realize they are not at brown in real life. It looks like even your euphyllia is brownish, is that the way it really is? When ive had brown outs my hammerspawn will go brown the bulk of the tentacles but remain flourecent at the tips.

Also, I have the same coral as the one you say is new to you. It is a base layin machine! Once it encrusts though it shoots out like crazy though and grows pretty quick. Beautiful coral if you can keep the branches from tanning out. I had better luck before I started vodka dosing in my old tank. Now that its in the new one its starting to get some color back slowly.

Here it is in my NC28 about a year or so ago

Yep the tank got filled up pretty quick, my 40B was packed full. There is still more sps I want to. The browning is from the transfer and 1 new light, need to replace both bulbs. I will be updating for sure.
looks great!!! keep the pics coming. Going to be fun to watch the growth
Thanks.

the large one :)

Thanks pretty sure its a Derasa. It was tiny when I got it. Had it for a few years now. Here is an old pic with it in it (40B at 10 months old), on the sand right side. Sadly I lost the Crocea in the pic for an unknown reason.

Ok the Bi Color Blenny I just got is taking bites out of some of my acros! I have seen him doing it and there are a few bite marks on a few of my acros. It is going to be a major pain to get that fish out. It should not be eating corals anyways they are reef safe grazers, plus I feed well.
