Okay its been a while since I last posted folks and I apologize. After the birth of my son, priorities in life have shifted quite a bit. Just to update everyone on the tank:
I went through 2-3 versions of Reeftech lights and am left with giant paperweights. No functioning software, no support. 2 lights sent back for repairs were never returned and the company folded because the new head of the company was essentially a con artist. I am still looking to get new LED lights on the tank and am searching for suggestions. The myriad of options currently available is great, but I am not sure what will work well for my tank. At the moment I like the Kessil 360n/w but am not going to rush into replacement lighting. 20k down the toilet will teach a pretty damn good lesson.
New rockwork is great but I still haven't finished rescaping the entire tank, having a child sure did throw a spanner in the works...
Just when I thought the tank had really taken off, it suffers a calcium reactor malfunction while I was out of town. SPS & LPS were goners, even tough buggers like catseyes and torches melted down. Shockingly clams and zoas survived, in fact the clams loved it.... I am letting things settle down a bit before starting up corals again. All of the fish are doing great. I will post up some pictures later this week.
The Tunze wave boxes are still amazing, they create a 2 inch tall wave along the entire length of the tank. I am actively considering capping my closed loop system to save on the electricity consumed by the two giant pumps.
Also if any of you in the NY/NJ/CT area have a tank this size, or know someone that does, I am looking for some help evaluating what changes I need to make to the system. Anyone have a contact or can setup an intro with the folks that run Atlantis, over on Long Island? I am tired of going through the constant cycle of crashed and rebounds, that I never encountered in 15 years of smaller systems.
