A few of my SPS

I am having some issues with my "strawberry shortcake" - it's been suffering for several months. The outer growth seems healthy with polyp extension and new growth encrusting but in the center there is some die off and some of the corallites turning a greyish color. Any ideas what might be causing this? No other corals in the system have these same symptoms.

What's wrong with me greg....??...and i still find this coral awesome?:lolspin:
Have had the same thing happen 2-3 times in some of my corals in the past and to be honest i didn't do anything(i mean dip and such).
In some cases coral grew back in these spots and removed the ones that didnt.

Think you are right,it looks like bacterial infection.
The thing is that i still don't get the reasons that can cause this.
The use or mixing some becterial products?:hmm2:
The lack of them?:hmm2:

Your comments are always appreciated. The coral looked pretty good after the dip so I am hoping it worked.

I believe this coral is yet to be classified - can't find it in Veron's volumes... I just call it "sexy beast" :bum:

Awesome greg!Glad to see this tank going strong in every single update!
You have an amazing coral collection!

Could your "sexy beast" be an abro or i'm just saying nonsence?:)

What's youw WC's routine?

Thanks again!!
I can see why you think the sexy beast may be acropora abrotanoides as they have a very similar latteral thick branch growth form however the corallites are very different so I am pretty confident it is a different species.
I try to do a 45 gallon water change once a week but sometimes I just can't find the time - and when I don't it is very noticeable to me.
I am also way behind on my mojano control with muriatic acid - need to get back on track with that and kill those suckers once & for all!!
Thanks for following along.

lol with the pic greg:lol:

Thanks for answering my ?'s and can't wait to see that sexy beast grow big!
Hope you'll get rid that mojanos soon too:beer:

Great updates haven't stopped in in a while..

You use Muriatic acid on the majano nems? Straight in a needle? Never heard of that one I've used vinegar with success (and some not) that's a whole lot better/permanent sounding =).. I have a ton of it for cleaning equipment and lowering alk in my make up water so I may give it a shot after I hear your process..

Yes I use it full strength in a syringe - I use the thin plastic syringe and tip from an old Salifert calcium test kit. It really hurts them but requires multiple treatments to actually kill them off. Thanks for checking in.
