A few of my SPS

+1
The exact experience i had with them too greg!
White ones seemed to always go for the algea but the dark ones,if they crossed paths with an sps coral they created tissue necrosis.
And it was like infection. The coral continued to loose tissue unless i fragged it.The thing is that if they found their way on to it,they same necrosis occured again.
They also made white little spots on the rocks and that's always a sign to make you worry:(

At the time i encountered them i had only sps in my tank.Greg did you see any damage made to the lps or other corals too?

I have found them on other corals as well but didn't notice any damage. They seem to mainly go after the sps & coralline algae.

Hm.. Thanks for the pic. I certainly have those in my tank.. Maybe they haven't reached critical mass yet.. I haven't seen them on my sps but I do get the white patches on my corraline algea.
Matt if you get a lot of them you may see some affected areas on your sps

thanks Greg!

i guess i´ve to monitor them closely!!
Yeah - just keep watch. I pull out what I can when I am digging around in the tank and spot them. I have had a few acros that were looking rough and suspected AEFW but when I pulled them out and dipped them all I found were the starfish which had to be manually removed.

Fwiw, I've had the same experience with those little bastard blotchy Asterina stars. Grrr

The Harlequin shrimp won't hurt the brittle stars either btw.

You actually find the starfish right on the sps?
Like, up in the branches?
Yes

No it RTN within a few days. :(
Bummer

good to know thanks, I have had no experience with them before.

Harlequins will take care of them. I had a pair live for over 2 years in my old 180,.
Glad to hear that, thanks.

My Red Planet has grown too big to be able to capture the whole colony on a straight down "top down" shot from the surface. So here is a partial ---

I have wanted a lineatus wrasse for years but I am a little disappointed with it's color. Hopefully it will brighten up over time.

okay i definitely answered to early... wow some much good looking corals and fish

the red planet is amazing, i would kill for a frag but i don´t know how to get one over here...

did you already get your harlequin shrimps?

Flo

Awesome update again Greg, can't get enough. I was drawn to that monti in there, looks like a capitata or something similar? I have a little spec of it saved from all my issues.

Thanks Flo - I'd send you some RP if I could. No shrimp yet, just waiting for them to come in.

Fml. I quit. Greg you've set the bar again!
Darryl, your tank is great so no need to feel that way. We all have our own styles is all. ;)

Thanks Mark - yes I believe that to be M.capitata as well. It is a pretty fast grower so your spec will be a colony before you know it.

Beautiful. One day I'll hopefully have colonies of that size
Thanks, just takes some time but that said my tank is a mix of all shapes & sizes. I still have plenty of frag sized corals in there.;)

Most of the corals are responding well to the new Radions and the extra "sun" power they are providing  but unfortunately my only remaining efflo doesn't seem to be enjoying life and has bleached with noticeable STN recently so I am worried I may lose that piece.:sad2: You can see it in the 2nd last picture - it's the ugly pale piece in the middle with colorful corals surrounding it.
