The exact experience i had with them too greg!
White ones seemed to always go for the algea but the dark ones,if they crossed paths with an sps coral they created tissue necrosis.
And it was like infection. The coral continued to loose tissue unless i fragged it.The thing is that if they found their way on to it,they same necrosis occured again.
They also made white little spots on the rocks and that's always a sign to make you worry
At the time i encountered them i had only sps in my tank.Greg did you see any damage made to the lps or other corals too?
I have found them on other corals as well but didn't notice any damage. They seem to mainly go after the sps & coralline algae.
Matt if you get a lot of them you may see some affected areas on your spsHm.. Thanks for the pic. I certainly have those in my tank.. Maybe they haven't reached critical mass yet.. I haven't seen them on my sps but I do get the white patches on my corraline algea.
Yeah - just keep watch. I pull out what I can when I am digging around in the tank and spot them. I have had a few acros that were looking rough and suspected AEFW but when I pulled them out and dipped them all I found were the starfish which had to be manually removed.thanks Greg!
i guess i´ve to monitor them closely!!
