A few of my SPS

My last 48" T5 fixture packed it in so I have now replaced it with 3 Radion fixtures.
The display tank lighting now consists of:
6 - 250 watt MH pendants
4 - Radion XR30W units (2 are "pro" and 2 aren't)
2 - 48" blue LED strips
various Reef-brite moon lights

I think this may bump up the PAR values a bit although I haven't ever checked them in the past or am I likely to moving forward.

I guess no more changing bulbs every six months or so. Are you planning on changing the lights slowly to all LEDs ?

Reef is going gangbusters again Greg, the iphone pic is stupidly colorful and shows wonderful contrast in the acro placement mate :)

I don't think most reefers realize just how much skill is required to achieve the level of success you have despite residing in Canada mate - very inspiring

How are the lights now laid out over the tank? Is it something like 4 MH in front, 2 back and with 4 radions? Just interested in how you are doing it now.
Front - 4x MH and 1 Radion
middle - LED blue strips
Rear - MHx2 (one on each end) and 3 Radions in between them.

I can't wait to see your tank again Greg! That is some massive light!
Come on over any time Darryl. Have the Radions up fairly high right now and will be lowering a bit each week.

Are you thinking of getting a Reeflink? Pretty slick piece of kit. If you haven't checked it out it may be worth your time.
I'll look into it, thanks for the idea.

That should be a benefit. No I am not considering changing all the lights - I still like MH's.

Do you a particular source for your pieces?
Mike are you asking where I buy my corals?

Thanks Andrew there is some color in there for sure, although that said my methods seem to go against some of the trends of the day - what I mean by that is I prefer to have some of the corals with subtle colors so it gives a variety of shades of the many colors rather than just having everything fluorescent and super bright. I love the bright corals but if that is all that is in the tank in my opinion it doesn't look very natural and I've seen a few tanks over the years that sort of remind me of a "fruit stand" if you know what I mean. Thanks for your kind words and taking time to drop in for a perusal even though I live in Canada. ;)

nice !!!!!!!!!! do you have a link to a hires pic id love to see how you have built the rock etc so many colonies so close together and they all get along?

Thanks Flo, I don't have any others at this time except for some of the small brittles everyone has in their tanks.

I sure hope so.

Baller light setup.. i dream of owning radions..
Thanks very much, I will say that is is noticeably brighter than when I was running the T5's.

Greg, are you referring to the irregularly shaped little buggers that reproduce like crazy?

Here's a sample of the sps eating starfish.

+1
The exact experience i had with them too greg!
White ones seemed to always go for the algea but the dark ones,if they crossed paths with an sps coral they created tissue necrosis.
And it was like infection. The coral continued to loose tissue unless i fragged it.The thing is that if they found their way on to it,they same necrosis occured again.
They also made white little spots on the rocks and that's always a sign to make you worry:(

At the time i encountered them i had only sps in my tank.Greg did you see any damage made to the lps or other corals too?

Hm.. Thanks for the pic. I certainly have those in my tank.. Maybe they haven't reached critical mass yet.. I haven't seen them on my sps but I do get the white patches on my corraline algea.
