A few pics of our lightning clowns

Wife won a pair of Lightning Clowns a few weeks back at our LFS. Few pics below (caught our flame angel and little 6 line wrasse too) as well as a FTS.

Tank is a 29 gallong Coral Life Biocube, about 30 pounds live rock, 40 pounds sand, 5 (forgot species) snails, 2 bumblebee snails, 2 candy cane shrimp, 1 emerald crab, hand ful of hitchhiker asterina stars.

Everyone seems fine so far - 2 clown fish just went in today. A little bickering between them but I expected that.

Wish we could do an anemone but we aren't going to do that in this tank.

also 2 maroon clowns of similar size could mean trouble in the future... they may kill each other

3 top photos are of the larger one of the pair.

Bottom photo is the little guy - so far the larger one has the little guy living in the top corner of the tank - let's him come out for a short bit but then chases him back to his corner.

No violent fighting so far and the male seems to be doing what he is supposed to - showing signs of submission to the female. She just doesn't seem to be taking the hint just yet.

Still don't see it . . . severely deformed faces and body but people still pay premium prices because of the pattern. At least these were free.

IIRC Matt said when breeding the first Lightning Maroons that practically all of the deformities were from fighting, so at least they may not be genetic...

Whatever the cause, still unnatural and ugly.

if you don't like it you can buy a regular clown like the other millions of reefers out there.. no need to be rude in this thread. designers arent for everyone. Some ppl prefer unique things than "natural" and common

Back on topic.. i really like the darker female maroon you got there. Pattern looks nice. I'm waiting to pair mine with a yellow striped or gold nugget

Thanks everyone. The agression by the female is slowing down some but she still won't let the male roam free. Keeps him where she wants him for now.

They are both pigs and have learned that when a person gets close to the tank there's a chance something to eat may appear.

Is there such thing as a yellow striped lightning maroon ?

My bad.. i meant gold. The original lightings require a lightning and a white striped.. they dont allow breeding with gold stripes. now that so many ppl have lightning, im sure someone will try breed it

To be clear, my issue is not with the pattern. It is correct that the original Lightning was wild caught. My issue is with the head and body shape, which is clearly deformed in these fish (and many other high end designers). I don't think anyone can honestly disagree with that. Frustrates me that people go gaga over these deformed fish just for color markings.
