A goodbye of sorts and thanks

About 4 years ago I started working at the museum and was put in charge of a 1200g tank and a few other 'small' 90, 120 and 180g tanks. NO SWEAT!

In retrospect I wasn't nearly as terrified as I should have been, but did realize that I had a lot to learn. Relatively early on I found ReefCentral and was pointed in the direction of the URS here. I learned an awful lot from you guys, and for the last three years or so this forum has been the homepage of my computer at work and even though I haven't met each of you face to face (though many I have) I feel like I got to know you all over time. Many of you were very generous with time, knowledge and at times even gifts of one sort or another. For this I want to say thank you.

The night I hosted the frag swap and behind the scenes tour of our new 1700g system was a true highlight for me, getting to meet and share my tank with so many interesting folks is something that will stay with me for a very long time.

Unfortunately my position was eliminated at the museum and I have been laid off. I don't have any personal tanks of my own so my 'need' for the forum has been drastically reduced and my presence here will be reduced to match. I'm sure I'll pop in every now and again, but certainly not in the same context. Someday I might even start my own tank, but that day is still off in the distance.

One last final plug... thanks to Tom at the Reef Shoppe who put up with me and helped me learn for the last 3 years.

So thanks again to everyone. Happy Reefing!

Cheers,
Tad

PS If someone posts a "Hey Tad whats this bug?" thread shoot me a PM so I know to respond. ;)

Hey Tad, sorry to hear about the job. When one door closes, ten doors open! Good luck with everything life throws at you.

Makes me sick to my stomach knowing when it comes down to money...education is always put on the back burner. Sorry to hear man! Hopefully they will come begging for you to come back! Good luck in the future for you!

Tad!

Tad!

let's get together, man!

You know my situation (wife left- single again). I only know a handful of people that are into reef aquariums and bugs. I'm free to take trips to exotic places where no girls will ever go and the roaches reign!

C'mon over for a beer! PM ME. Seriously.

Tad- you're not doing the butterflies anymore?
PM me!

What are you doing today (Saturday)? I'm considering going to the ARC thing in Buffalo.

I just hate news like this. Hope you land a cushy job elsewhere, Tad. What's going to happen to the museum tanks?

Thanks for the friendly words everyone. To answer a couple questions...

About the tanks at the museum I don't really know what will happen to them. I'm sure The Reef Shoppe will take good care of them though.

And Gary thanks for the invitation but I didn't get your message till after the fact. However, I am always up for a beer though, just let me know.

Cheers

Sorry to here the news, Tad. I'm sure that you and you knowledge will be missed by many. Too bad they couldn't at least keep you on for tank maintenance. That way you could stay connected with all of the work and dedication that you have devoted to the tanks. Best of luck.
