Very nice! Love to see what is looks like now.

Thanks, once I get it up to par, I'll post more pictures. I've been real lax about my parameters. I've had a motor go on my magnetic stir kalk reactor and my CO2 ran out. My alk plummeted and I had a lot of recession and some STN issues.

Once my corals color back up, I'll start to post more pictures. I plan to get a new SLR camera!

I probably get about 100 gallons an hour (guessing, likely bad guess). The closed loop is ran by a dart, but I've got the flow cut back a bit to that outlet. The ball valve is about 1/4- 1/2 turned. I can feel a gentle current come out of the holes. Maybe there is more, I'm not sure. I'll leave it there for about a week and put my penductor back.

The neat thing about this is I can drill and plumb my sump (current/future) with this. A bulk head is much cheaper than a canister filter and another pump. Plus it is one less thing to clean.

Well I have my first disaster to report, if you don't include my AEFW victory. So I changed that large volume of water on the 12th. I have had some STN issues since and it has begun to spread and spread. I'm running a poly filter just in case, but I don't really know what could be the problem. All my parameters are spot on. Here's what I'm guessing...

-maybe with the new container, there was some type of contaminant. The fact that the STN has taken so long to occur makes me wonder about this

-I did try to bump up the salinity a bit to 1.025 Over the past 4 years the salinity has dropped a bit.

So I'm going to do another 100 gallon water change and watch and wait. I'm tempted to move some of my non affected corals to other tanks, but some of them are so friggin huge, that anyone's tank that I trust will never be able to hold the corals.

darn - sorry to hear

let me know if you need anything - unfortunatly I'll be out of town for two weeks so I can't do a whole lot

my tank is pretty full but there may be room for a couple corals, but beware I know I still get the occasional AEFW

You may also try BigJay. his tank is very stable and the corals are doing well. he has room as his corals are all smaller

Pete,

Thanks for the offer of help.

Maybe things are not as bad as I thought they were. I have lost a couple of corals, but the corals that I thought the STN was spreading to looked light in the dark. With my lights on, things don't look as bad:D .

Still plan on the 100 gallon water change;)

Are you saying you've not tested salinity in four years?

I hope things are better than you first thought.

okay, good to hear - let me know if you need anything like RO/DI water

Dead thread.....

So after about 10 months or longer my Reef flow Dart's seal broke, I've had my closed loop off. Today, I finally took the pump and plumbing off of the back of the tank.

I upgraded my skimmer to a Deltec PF601S and added a Tunze 6201!

I've been battling briopsis pluminata in my frag tank and things have finally turned the corner. :)

Are you going to fix the Dart's seal? It's not impossible - I've got the step by step article on my site if you need it. Sequence will send you free seals, you just need to call them.

Briopsis - ugh. :(
