looks like i'm back to the old hydrometer. YAY

I read an article one time about a guy who acclimated goldfish to salt water. Everyday he would add a table spoon of salt to the goldfish tank until he reached a moderate salinity of 1.021 then he dumped them in to his salt tank and he had them all living in harmony. Moral of this story,.... no idea just thought Id share ..
Mr. UPS man came in the rain last night and dropped off my new goodies Im geeky. Big boxes made that poor S.o.b. march back and forth from his brown truck 3 times in the pouring rain lol.. It was like Christmas lastnight playing with all my chemicals and new stuff. Just another step closer to my Uber tank. All my new frags are smiley this morning. Life is good.

Stacker you ever mess with Ozone? I mean besides sniffing the back of your moms old tube TV? lol... Man I miss that smell..
Anyhow I was thinking about running it on my new setup. I never have before but I hear good things about it. Dont have a clue what to buy though, Im looking around for whats available now. Might be over rated. I run UV now so Its more of a back up than anything If I decide to go spend the $$$$. Whatcha think?

ozone seems like a good investment. the clarity is supposed to be great and its supposed to make your skimmer pull out more organics better water quality etc. Only thing I'd be worried about is an overdose or whatnot. I've read a lot about people running activated carbon to pull out whatever it is that ozone can do to damage corals, fish, etc. I don't think I'll get it just for the simple fact that if I don't run carbon or keep a close eye on it I might suffer the wrath of the ozonizer. 
Yea exactly my thoughts. I run carbon and Im gonna continue to run it in the future. I dont know anyone who runs ozone to be able to say for sure if its worth the money. Then comes the debate whether to use an integrated controller or a seperate controller. Then the air dryer and a good monitor. The list goes on. For a 300 + system your talking minimum of $500 for a semi-decent ozone system. I just think Id rather have something else for that much money like a better Skimmer for example. I want to run a Barr Sk5220 dual beckett with a Hammerhead pump. If that doesnt get the job done then I dont know what ozone could possibly add to that which would make it worth the money. Thats like 90% efficent allready at that flow rate. Ill have a 90 gal fuge for this thing too which is my current frag tank plus my UV and carbon. I should be good to go. All I really need/want is a custom sump outside the fuge. Id like to be able to seperate those. Not necessary but desirable.

I get notions of exactly that. My first expierience with this hobby was the guy who sold me a wet dry and told me it was all I needed to have whatever I wanted to keep. Form that day forward Ive been spending money every since. Im done with this over priced crap. Ozone, Whats the point. How clean is the real ocean I say. Thats like purifying your dogs water, he just got done drinking from the toilet 5 minutes ago.

lol true. I mean it'd be nice to have but i dont think i'll ever buy it myself. I want to get a chiller if i need one, but we'll see how that goes first. I just want to get done with the equipment and start buying some fish. I got so much $$$ in this thing and haven't even bought anything alive. If i wasn't bringing my livestock i'd feel like a fool lol. don't go there stack LOL

Well my journey begins tomorrow night. I'm in the process of packing up all my stuff and getting ready for the trip. Mapquest says 10 hours to the tank store 14 hours from tank manu. to naples. So thats gonna be fun.

Better U than ME Bud! I'd help if I had the timend $$$ but..... Ain't nobody stepping up to pay my bills so you B on yer own! I'll have to come visit when you get 'r all setup and are don killing a bunch of stuff... LOL Fla. is a nice place to visit in Jan. for a day or 3. Other than that if I'm not in the keys you can keep it all!

yea i should be in pretty good shape. I got the truck and trailor loaded up with my stuff, and left almost 9 feet for the tank. The sump will have to be strapped down on top of a mattress but hey you gotta do what you gotta do. The trip will hopefully be fun for me, it will be nice to get away and see some new states. I'm also excited to see this tank and see how i like the starphire glass. I came across some cheap aragonite too so even more to be happy about!
Now i just have to keep an eye on my dad so he doesn't go dropping any gulf creatures into the tank. For some reason he thinks everything is compatable and thinks it would be "cool" to have stuff he caught outta the ocean. Amateurs :lol:

lol. Long drive. Just got a nice cool front movng in. It'll be gone before you get here though lol. Hate moving, Id rather chop a piece of manhood off than pack all my crap again but like you said gotta do what ya gotta do.
Have fun haulin *** thru the mountains thats the hairy part. Once you get past Tenn. its a breeze. Last time I made the voyage I stepped out in Macon GA barefoot and left the sole of my foot on the blacktop at a Citgo station lol. I think it was like 100 that day. They say Florida is so windy cuz Georgia sucks I tend to agree. Almost took a job in Marietta before coming here now Im glad I didnt. Nothing there absolutely nothing. You got the Atlanta underground a few bars other than that might as well start a moonshine still and drink yourself to death.
I dig FL. Were else can you drive 2 hours and be in paradise?
Stacker, You just havent been to the finer places here in FL. The keys is great if your looking for a vacation but theres so much to do down here I cant begin to tell you. Im all into the Ocean so Its the perfect place for me. Cant get crab cakes, Shrimp, and a Blackened Grouper sandwhich in OH. Besides that ill take 3-4 months of heat over 4-5 months of cold as Sh1t snow and slop anyday.
