WOW really a nice custom lighting set up......you are ready to grow my friend:)

Thanks Mace!!!!! I have to say it was really exciting to turn the lights on and see the tank. Hopefully tomorrow I can flip the switch on the whole system and get it running.

Good news....bad news....

Good news....bad news....

As with all new builds there will be ups and downs. I was really excited to finally flip the switch on the entire system last night. Everything started flowing nicely, my concerns of the 26ft run from the tank to the sumps were overblown, my durson drains are dead silent, no leaks or drips from any of the plumbing that I did but when I went out to the fish room there was a stream of water coming from the return pump. I thought right away it was the shaft seal but quickly realized it was coming from the seal where the volute joins togethers. I tried tightening the screws but nothing is working. So after doing some reading and debating what to do, I have decided to sell the pump with full disclosure that it leaks at a very low price and replace it with a Dolphin 6250 pump. I have been extremely impressed with the performance and how quiet the 4750's on my closed loop are. New pump will be here tomorrow...thank you Amazon Prime!

Amazon prime was introduced to my wife by no other than myself @@@!!!! Guess what: She Loves It ( actually so do it )..
Also I just learned recently that I should compare amazon prices for high end items as they maybe cheaper somewhere else.....
Good Luck Steve....

Perfect REEFER composure:) Ran (3) Dolphin 3600's for 3.5 years before selling the system and they never missed a beat.

No more leaks.....

No more leaks.....

Pretty embarrassed over this one.....I was so afraid of over tightening the nuts with fear of cracking something, I didn't tighten them enough. I decided to go back and give each nut another turn. Turns out they needed a lot of tightening. Pump is running with no leaks now. So, now that I have a brand new Dolphin pump arriving tomorrow.....what would you do? Stick with the reeflo and know that there could be seal issues down the road or swap it out for the Dolphin?

I am running a brand new hammerhead gold and I am getting salt creep out of the seal and also my motor runs hot. I vote try the dolphin

Shrimp is in!

Shrimp is in!

The reeflo is still leaking a little and the Dolphin pump arrived yesterday but haven't hooked it up yet. I got a lot done yesterday....hooked up the ato and plumbed one of the 165g water storage tanks, finished installing the new skimmer and turned that on and dropped a pound of shrimp in the tank. We woke up to a pretty nasty odor this morning which led a very angry wife...never a good way to start a saturday morning. I went out to the garage and the skimmer had a nice head of foam cooking and it stunk!!!! Im wondering if I will get much of a cycle since I have 350lbs of live rock that has been running in the fish room for the last month. I will run some water tests later tonight or tomorrow to see if anything has started to register.

Ok so the odor is almost all gone, the dolphin pump is in place and running. Definitely takes a little more juice to run but I am getting more flow and have to dial the return outlets back a little. I took a quick video of the surface agitation and the flow at the bottom of the tank as well. Im really loving the power of the dolphin pumps and the flow wolfs on the closed loop. Im having a hard time embedding the videos. They don't show up when I post the link.
