A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

Hey Buddy! I'm down in the Summerville area looking at houses for our future move. I think the rock scape is great! I like the idea of slanting one of towers as well. Do you have any branch rock? You could make a few bridges from tower to tower if you had long enough pieces....

Hows the house hunting going??????

Dang you Steve! I just ordered some Custom Flow Wolfs. These will have 1.5" intakes, and 1.25" outlets. Estimated at 5800gph. Im getting two to be powered by my 2 6250 Dolphins. I love the wave action you had in your tank....

That's going to be some amazing movement. I moved the rocks around and had a nice later of dust on the bottom of the tank. I turned on the fw's and dolphins and now the bottom is totally clear except for two neat little piles of dust. It almost looks like someone swept the bottom of the tank. I'll get some pics later. I think you'll have more than enough flow !!! Did you order direct from Lucas at derkroon?

I did. I sent him an email about what would happen to the FW's that premium aquatics sales with my dolphins. He basically said it would just restrict the flow down, but wouldn't damage the unit itself. But he told me for about 100 bux more per unit he could custom make the fw's to handle more. That will put me at about 11,600 gallons per hour on the closed loop. I haven't purchase the return pump yet so that will be plus whatever that will pump through. Im pretty excited though after seeing yours though. Its mimicking the ocean, its a nice gentle wave bringing in nutrients and taking away waste from the reef. Its not a directional flow like powerheads produce..

Here is a quick video of the flow on the bottom of the tank. I will try to get a better one of the other pile.

thanks Osama! As for my quote....I was driving home from lowes one night with lumber and pvc hanging out the back of my truck and a 10ft piece of pvc almost fell out of my truck on the highway. All I could think of was "I am crazy for doing all of this for a fish tank!!!!"

It's a ton of work but what else ya' gonna do, keeps us from sitting around and getting old. Nice build so far, looking forward to seeing the tank when it's completed.

I no the feeling the one night me and my wife were out and i was like i just need to run to lowes and get a length of 1 1/2 pvc and we had her car. i folded down the seats stuck a 10 footer right to the windshield next thing i no were almost home we hit a bump the pipe flexed, spider cracked the whole windshield

We are all semi nuts in this hobby !!! The time I am spending in my retirement (with no pay ) on this tank that was built for me is unbelievable. let us all be careful .. OK to work hard but NO ACCIDENTS pls. Stay safe kewadjak

A Low Country Reef Tank....one more final upgrade

Making the final push to get this up and running!!! Plumbed in the final piece to my system and made last return line connection so now the tank is completely connected to the fish room.

Decided to go a different route with how the lights will hang. I ordered the tubes from eztube.com. I sent them my design, they made some changes and 4 days later the box was on my steps. They cut and cleaned all of the pieces for me for only $22 more....totally worth it! Put it together in under an hour.....

Started the rodi again so I can finish filling the system. I hope to flip the switch some time tomorrow!

Steve: Nice work on the light hang ... Are U going to keep UV on all the time. I am asking as I put one on my system and I am afraid of using it as things are growing nicely.. Your thoughts on UV on/off. Appreciate your thoughts

My plan is to run it 24/7. I've read that turning the lamp on and off will reduce the longevity of the bulb. I ran one on my last system 24/7 with no problems.
