Beautiful piece Gary. I have done a few things with Goniopora's and Alveopora's. If you put them in close proximity with other corals each individual mouth begins to create the white bulb tips as you have picture. Quite a cool evolutionary design. I've noticed that it's only a few at a time and only those that are on the side of the coral. Obviously a cool defense mechanism.
 
you're absolutely right, Mike.

There's a T's Torch 6 inches away and directly at the same angle of the tentacles developing the Acrospheres. Even with the heavy water flow in my aquarium the Goni senses it's presence.
