A Reef in the Sky

A, hard to tell until it grows out.

B, C, F; Acropora Prostrata (NOT Millepora!)

E, Acropora Desalwii

G, Stylopora or Poccilopora spec. (S. Pistillata, P. Meandrina)

H, Need a closeup of coralite structure ;) (maybe A. Formosa)

D, Maybe an Acropora Abrolhosensis

Watch out with the lighting period Andrew, some are slightly bleached. Very nice scaping so far! Hope to visit you next month! :)

Hello V1 ... rotate, are new to the forum, but I follow your project for a long time! I wish you my sincere congratulations for the work and love that you are putting on this new tub!
If I may, let me ask you the reason why you have not added a calcium reactor (or maybe I missed something, if I'm sorry!)
See you soon Andrew
Hello and welcome. Thank you for your kind words. I did not want to use a Ca reactor.

Wow, stunning! Regarding the plexiglass cover for the Powermodule, yes, it does sag in the middle, I assume from the weight. I previously used the smaller 8x39w fixtures, and those sagged as well. I was never, and still, not too concerned with the sag (looks-wise) because my fixture is inside a canopy. I think the sag helps dissipate the heat a bit better too.
Thanks. I agree regarding the cooling. You don't really notice the sag in mine either except when you stand at the far end.

Wow, Coral G is just plain sexy.. I think I may have found future coral porn!! Oh and placement for Coral D just can't be better.
Very Nice.
Thank you. I like Coral G too. Unfortunately I think Coral D is not doing so well. Pictures to follow shortly.

i wanna say b is a acrop mili
Thanks... not sure as my pictures are not too clear.

agreed:frog::frog::thumbsup:

i would say that B,C and F are acropora millepora (blue milli, rose milli, and green milli), E looks like a tricolor valida, A i would guess is an acropora chesterfieldensis, and H and D are like turquoise staghorns (acropora sp?) and coral G i dont know but damn if its not stunning!
Cheers and thanks for the input. I will provide some more pictures

Coral A looks like the Strawberry Shortcake?
Generic name?

Yours coral colors reminds me Iwan Lasser colors. Amazing
Wow, thank you for the compliment. Hopefully mine can stay colorful

wow looks beautiful
Thank you

+1 on Aussie Strawberry Shortcake

B,C & F all appear to be either in the Milli or Prostrata family. I can never tell the two apart.
Thank you Jonathon... I believe they are from the Prostrata

Looking GREAT.

G is a poccipora. I have one the same. plus a pink one.
Sweet thanks. I could have got a purple one too but it didn't look to good. They are a very heavy coral!

A, hard to tell until it grows out.

E, Acropora Desalwii

Wow, great link. Nice pictures and it looks exactly the same. Thanks

how do you like the 6105's? I've been on the fence with these or 2 MP40w...

I am finding them a little tricky getting them in the best position at the moment. They operate between 10-85%. The MP20 certainly helps with flow over the island.

If I had room at the rear and no blue background, I would probably would have x3 MP40w's (one either end and at the rear/middle)

New Toy = Better Pictures... with practice

Some better pictures showing more detail to help identification.

Coral D
Acropora Abrolhosensis

This is the coral that appears not to be doing too well. Any ideas?

Coral H
Name: ?
This fell over last week but is in place again. I am watching the base closely as there appears to be a little recession. Fingers crossed. Towards the tips appears to be more blue than the rest.

Had some trouble last week (again) after connecting the chiller however it sorted itself out. Performing really well!!

Thanks for looking

The lighter growth tips shouldn't be a problem... that usually just shows that there is new growth. It's the receding base tissue that would concern me. Assuming your nutrient levels are good, I would double check to make sure the entire coral (the base included) is getting enough flow.

And Coral G looks a little bleached to me... where is it currently placed in your tank? You might want to move it down a little (unless there is another factor at play here) and acclimate this to your light set-up a bit slower than the others (which seem to be coloring up nicely).

Looking good though!!! Keep it up...

Coral A is a Acropora Chesterfieldensis. To make it a bit more clear when I said the corals looked slightly bleached; White tips are almost always signs of growth, like in you pictures. The bleaching is more the overall color of the colony. The Pocci for instance normally is much darker, and this also counts for the two stags.
Under good conditions; not too much light, enough Dissolved and Particulate "food" in the water column, the corals will slowly become darker in color again.

Just don't shock the corals with too much light at the moment, when they are still stressed.

Leonardo

Your Prostratas looks great! Those white tips looks like growth to me. My neon green prostrata got the same look. Everything is coming along nicely Alpha! Great job!
