A Reef in the Sky

Stunning looking tank, just read through the whole thread.

When you moved the tanks was there a reason for changing the background colour, or have I missed it?

V1 , did you ever own a copper band butterfly?, what are your favorite supplements for the different colored corals? Thanks Marc

Thank you very much. No the background has not changed. It may have faded a little.

Yes I owned one. Looks like I will need another one soon. I don't really have specific supplements for colours. Spur2 is very effective but you must be careful with it.

Andrew, you did it again, great video. I know it has been said before but i am a bit lazy to look for it, what do u use for shooting and editing?

Wow everything looks incredible and so healthy! I say your tedious work has paid off, the flow in the tank looks ideal in every location. I find that hard to pull off, Great job. Video is top notch too.

Hi Andrew,
What an amazing video!!
I know how hard it is to get a video done....I can imagine the amount of hard work you wouldv put into this...hats off captain :)
The tank and equipment looks extremely clean and the video brings out the supreme esthetics a reef tank could ever have and the video is a true testament to the dedicated care you have given for your livestock.
It truly has set a benchmark.
Thanks for the inspiration!!

Happy Reefing!!

Fantastic work Andrew. A captivating video and more proof of your unique talent in this hobby.

I am a BIG fan of this as you know and I was just wondering about a couple of things that stuck out to me.

The large stag in the left corner tends to stand out, not due to its size but more so because it is doesn't sit as easily as the other corals in the 'candy shop' appearance the tank has. Just wondering if you had any thoughts on it?

And the Tunze pumps being close to the front provide a lot more visual pollution than the vortechs did. Just wondering why you went back to more Tunze as they have a big impact on the minimalist look the display is so famous for?

This is by no means a criticism, it was just a thought when comparing it to the previous display you had before the move. I hope it comes across constructively :-)

Kind Regards

Greg

Great tank. I didn't go back through the whole thread again but was wondering if you ever shared your lighting schedule and %s :)

Very nice video and tank!

Was wonder what typer of acro (common namer or species) of the circled acro is in the below photo. Sorry about the photo quality, did it quick in paint. I really like this acro and have been looking for this exact species.

Thanks

Yep, I think you're spot on! I looked it up and it seems to be commonly called a "teal staghorn" but I do believe it to be A. formosa. Thanks for the ID.

Wow........... Great Video!
Thank you goreefers

Thank you sir!!

Amazing video Andrew. Loved it. The PE on that Green Milli/Prostrata is awesome.

I use my DSLR Canon 550D T2 and just use the video function. Editing this time was iMovie 2011 version.

Thank you Noob for the kind words!! The video did take a while but I do enjoy the process. The trick is finding the time!

Hi Greg and thank you for the kind words. There is no offense taken at all so don't worry.

To answer your questions...
1. The stag on the island has grown very well. After moving the tank I just wanted to place that coral on the upper part of the island and not fiddle around with perfect placement as it was rather stressed. Ideally it would have been glued into position further back on the upper part of the island however I just let it balance itself and then left it alone. It does need trimming and I will get around to it.

2. I agree 100% regarding the Tunze. It is a shame because I would prefer to place one on the left side at the rear but can't due to the stag. The Vortech do certainly look better with a less foot print. I am never 100% happy with flow and find myself changing locations every month or two. Ironically both Tunze are back on the right side (overflow end) and they do look better there.

Ideally I would like to try an MP60 for the right side, remove the x2 6105's and MP20 but $$$ is stopping me at the moment.

Thank you again for the kind words and for following along.

Thank you. The lights turn on at 9:00am and off and 8:15pm. The actual %s I'll have to look up on the GHL as I've had the current setting for many months and have actually forgotten. Will let you know.

Thanks Dennis and steevareno2002

I agree with all above...Very slick looking tank. Very healthy looking. Gives me something to strive for
Thank you very much for the kind words bwig333

Another great video Andrew, Thanks! Especially like the fact that you showed off your "behind the scenes" set up. Curious, how many main electrical circuits do you have feeding your tank, are they GFCI protected?

Thank you FlyboySMB. I use x3 wall sockets which power everything. Each has a Belkin surge protector.

so when will this tank be nominated for TOTM?
Long way to go before I get into that league shaggss. There are many great tanks on reef central. I'm just happy to share my experience.

**World premiere: New Lighting**

This arrived just before I left for work on Monday night. I'll have to wait until I get back.
