L.A. Visit

L.A. Visit

So we went to Los Angeles for the holidays and I had the opportunity to get together with Dave (o2manyfish) this past Monday and hit up all the wholesalers.

I didn't do as much damage as I thought I would. I couldn't say no to some of the clams I saw at Pacific Aquafarms and ended up grabbing 3 large maxima's with some great colors!

I ended up having the most fun at Unique Corals. They had some nice acros, pectinas, scoly's, a beautiful red goniopora"¦ Scott and Dave made things real easy for me. :loll: They agreed to ship everything for me tomorrow so I will have it when I return Saturday morning.

Great update, love the pics. Unique Corals has some nice pieces. He's been holding some for me until I am ready for them.

Surprise at Home

Surprise at Home

So we got back to town tonight and I had a nice surprise awaiting me in my seahorse tank.

Baby Bangaii's"¦

I am not sure when they were released. Sometime over the last 5 days. I only have counted 4-5, but I have a lot of Caulerpa in the tank. Both my Seahorses and Mandarins in the tank looked a little fat. So, they may have eaten a few.

The baby Bangaii are about 1/4" - 3/8". I am not sure if I should try to remove them to one of my QT's or just let them be. At some point in the future, I will definitely move the 2 adults to their own tank.

I am planning on picking up some rotifers for them tomorrow.

Very awesome on those cardinals! And ultra jealous you got to check out those wholesale places. Tank and corals are looking awesome! We need some updated fish room pics!

Happy holidays to you too Dan!!! How are things going with the tank? It's hard to tell with the picture but it looks like there's less fish in the tank.

Hey Steve!

Things are going very well! I am glad to see that you have a new build started and am anxious to see your new setup. The house really looks nice!

I still have just as many fish if not more! Still pairs of all of the tangs except two. I lost an Achilles to a battle with an MP60 and one of my Clown Tangs decided to see how high he could jump and landed on the concrete. It happened right by my auto-feeder so I am assuming he was a little hungry.

I have since caught my other achilles and will soon find another of similar size to begin acclimating it with. The Clown Tang will come later. I also have two Borbonius Anthias living in my overflow. One of these evenings I will catch them and put them pack into the main display.

Here are a few fish pics:

Awesome pictures as always Dan! Sorry to hear about your fish losses!!! Seems like the tank is pretty much on cruise control right now.

Impressive as always. Sorry about your losses.

You really have an international Noah's Ark reef in your house.

And thank you for mentioning Unique Corals, I haven't ordered from them in a while.

Great pics again. Love seeing the updates. The tank is looking incredible in pics, but I bet in person, its even better. Sorry about the fish loss.

How are your red tail spot cardinals doing?
Mine seem to do OK for a while and then slowly disappear. I went from a seemingly happy thriving school of nine to just three in the course of four days.

Scott and Dave over there are great! I know they got a bunch of new frags in!

Thanks! Let me know when you come down to Tucson. I'll give you a tour of the house system and LFS!

They are doing good. I think I have lost one or two of the small ones. They either got eaten or went over the overflow. They were tiny. I have to feed live brine to the area of the tank they school in. The other food seems to large for them.

They did some good work.

I think I will have to get my local college students a chance to make a video of my setup too.

Thanks for the idea.
