A Reefaholic's 1000+ Gallon Mixed Reef System Build

awesome site dustin!!!!! quick question.....are you happy with the orpheks?

Thanks Steve. I've been happy with them thus far and still don't think another light compares when it comes to spread for a large tank. Controller takes some getting used to when you first set it up but I have not messed with that in a couple months so it's a moot point once it's set up?

agreed about the controller. I see that there is a 2nd version of the atlantik coming out soon and one of the changes was the controller. I've decided on the dimension of my new tank so now I am looking at lighting and have the orpheks on my list.

hows the tank dustin? any new updates?

I'll work on an update and try to post some pics. I've got 2 nasos, 2 hippos, 5 yellow tangs in QT now and more to come in near future. Also raising 18 (Was 19) baby Bangaii cardinals in my fish QT system. That being said, after my alk screw up at the first of August my tank has been recovering slowly. In the past week or two PE has gotten a lot better but unfortunately lost some beautiful colonies which killed my motivation for a bit. I'll stop being such a debbie downer and post something more positive later!

In the meantime, I just posted my water change station to BRSs Reefer Challenge....Any votes of support would be appreciated!

LOL, thanks guys. This is just some ROI that my wife "thinks" I'll be getting at some point! I think I'm in the hole just a bit, my "business" is FAILING!!!!!

Glad you are back D. Been reading your website and I have to say you have done a great job. Very informative and I also voted on your pic. You are beating everyone by atlest 15 votes. Wish you the best.

Dustin, your website is really helpful and encouraging to those of us still wishing for the room to set up a large tank. It's so helpful to get your opinions and experiences with the various support systems and strategies that y'all have worked out for these large volume systems. The LaCl dosing is new to me. I had just known about it for treating LR until now. Thanks for all the effort you're putting into your documentation.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement and appreciation of the site!

I need to get some more articles up, just need to block out a couple days late at night each week to add more material to the site.
