Brown Acro Club  we are meant to escape from this club Mike, not rejoice about our collective membership.   :headwally::headwally::headwally:

I hope Biggles doesnt notice our membership of the Brown Acro Club...

I'd be careful with dosing too much Iodine. One can easily venture into the overdosed state. Whilst I like Salifert K, NO3, Alk, Ca test kits etc, the Iodine isnt so good.
Sahin, I've heard this repeated so much that when I started experimenting with Iodine I decided to do some searches to find out about all these "wiped out" tanks that had overdosed Iodine. Franky all I found were second and third hand accounts of Iodine overdoses, and nothing definitive, like "My tank was going along great and I dosed Iodine and nothing else and the next day X coral or X fish was dead."

Im sure it's possible to overdose but all I found was threads that said "I accidentally dumped a whole lot of Lugol's in the tank, is everything going to die" and invariable nothing did and in some cases the corals took on amazing color. I've dosed large amounts and nothing died(unlike Iron, which a large dose did result in a mini crash). I am starting to think Iodine may be a bit of a boogeyman...

Yup...and Biggles is stuck on mostly GREEN belt  ...though he has some nice blues and etc... I'm 100% brown belt for the moment.

Good to know...going to follow what Biggles did and speriment a little. If my acros die after having survived AEFW/a mini crash etc, then Biggles is getting blamed and flamed big time.

Man, I can't keep up with your thread... new tank looks mint! I don't know where you find the time for the photos, videos, new tank projects, etc... do you sleep? ;)

+1!
Looking amazing Biggles!
Can't wait to see this tank up and running.
Very interesting about iodine.
I would bet that once you get enough iodine into the system, the demand will probably drop a bit.. You are wise to go slow.. Doesn't surprise me that you are!

Now i don't normally reply to posts out of order but these ones screamed out for my attention......... :)

Excellent post Mike, great to see a member of the RCTKC backing the club president.

As if i'd let your election as president of the Reef Central Turd Keepers Club go without a mention..........

Congratulations mate, i really can't think of any other reef keeper who deserves the recognition more than YOU. I can't tell you the joy i felt when i read Mike's announcement, i felt like doing a little  i was so happy.

I'm sure he won't buddy
It will be a short memebership:dance:

I know you're struggling to keep your membership active Mike but don't feel bad if you're forced to leave the RCTKC. I have yet to see anyone come close to matching Sahin's skill with toilet acros.....

The scary part is that we are all drooling over your reef and its colors, especially Sahin, and it turns out you have been running that thing al less than full strength! Its like that scene in The Princess Bride where the man in black switches sword hands..."I am also not left handed!"

Now, something I haven't told you about...honey and milk dosing...am I joking or serious....hmmmm:dance:

I'm not buying a cow mate and i'm allergic to bee venom so both of those are out.

I hope no harder than a regal plus getting it from jack is always a helping hand

Yeah i have to agree, reminds me i need to order a purple tang with Jack as they're very scarce in Melbourne stores. Think i've seen less than five for sale in the last year during my LFS visits.

You just cant help being sneaky can you. I read so many ##### and ##### and ##### in your earlier post Biggles...its just not right

Anyway; have a gander at this: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1980343

I read a great deal before even buying the iodide solution mate and already decided to keep it at just detectable if possible. I have no intention of risking my acros over any supplement so rest assured there will be no dramas.

You'll need to direct that question to the RCTKC president - Sahin. Pretty sure he's a 3rd Dan Brown belt....

As long as i can get a small reading i'll be happy mate, i just don't want there to be none detectable rather than trying to maintain a certain level if you get what i mean.

I'm adding 1ml a day to the alk drip which is about one third the weekly dose recommended - super cautious is the way we will both go buddy

Lol thanks mate. I live beside my work place and supervise myself during work hours. Obviously i don't abuse the privilege by dropping in home a lot although the new anthias have been getting about seven feeds a day.........;)

Thanks Matt, yep going very slow with anything new added to the system. As i said earlier i just wanted to let you guys know of the interesting reaction i seemed to have got from dosing a bit of iodide to the system. It might be due to something unrelated for all i know but i thought it was worth a mention. :)

Biggles, FYI, I in no way had anything to do, or involved in any way, With Sahin's last post.

Marty
P.S. Please also advise Kevin

I reckon you might have smiled when you read his crazy ramblings Marty....... and that's all it takes.....:mad2:

As president of the Brown Acro club (:angryfire:), I award the Green Acro Belt Presidency to you Biggles in recognition of the most number of the greeniest acros in one tank. I dont think any is ever going to topple you from that position Biggles. Well done mate. :celeb3:

He was laughing his head off I bet.

Anyway Biggles are you getting the tank wet this weekend?

You should have just left it alone Sahin........;)

If i take out all my green acros i'll still have lots of other acros left. If you take out all your browners you won't need to run any lighting over the display........so you can finally clear up that cyano problem once and for all.......... see every cloud does have a silver lining.

You best quit now mate or it's only going to get more painful........ :p

I might get it wet this weekend with a tap water level test before i drain it and stick the RO hose into it :)

Zanclea hydroids - i am keeping them because i think they are cool.

Bloody hell Biggles. I leave you for 5 minutes and you've lost the plot. More wrasses, blue submarines and a tank......I give up! Things are looking ace as usual. May I ask why you got a hippo? When did you order the tank? What are the dimensions of the tank? Lots of question I know:beer:. That tank looks very similar to another one that I've seen on RC, the owner goes by the name of Fishy, very nice guy but he hasn't got a clue what he's doing:crazy:. When are you planning on having this thing wet?

Can't wait to see the new tank with water. I fear tank moves, seems like something always goes wrong. Hell, every time someone changes equipment I fear I'll see a post with some horror story in it. Do you have specific plans to "age" the new tank?

Remember I used to squirt water with my water blaster at the cats...? :uzi:

Setup the new tank already mate. :p Page 13 and new tank isnt wet yet. Most tanks are wetted by page 4-5 at the latest. :fun5:

Nice Hydriods on the brown acro. :p

That last pic biggles gave you a small place in the rcttkc club:p
You won't get a belt for that but something small for your wrist:spin2:
Wrong time to post that pic mate...now sahin, has the upper hand:p

Hey Rory, where you been matey
The peninsula is 66x32x18", ordered it about 3 weeks ago and it was ready for pickup in less than two. It will be wet in the next two weeks max. The return pump hasn't even been shipped from Germany yet so that's going to hold things up - Sahin caused the delay with his stupid Elos suggestion. :mad2:

I will fill the new tank and the run a small pump to it from the existing sump so i can temporarily and slowly introduce the water to the whole setup. Once all the water is shared for 3-4 days of days and i'm happy the way the acros are looking i'll transfer everything to the peninsula, empty the sump and display of water and shift the sump into the new stand and fire it up again. That's the plan to avoid the acros going into water they aren't used to Mark, they won't even know they've been moved except for the different water flow. :)

Lol that deep water thing is turning from light tan color to green - that was a night flash shot.......... day or night it's yucky colored :headwally:

The only thing my mate Sahin has is a brown thumb......

This is one of the acros that prompted me to chase better pink pigments. The branches are a glowing ice blue and it's trying really hard to pop all over with pink polyps and highlights and it's my duty to help it !

It's very hard to photograph due to the reflective shimmer bouncing back from the branches but this is the acro i would put in a bucket and save if the house was burning down and i could only take one........ to me it is that ridiculously pretty already. :)

Thanks Michael, going through a good patch at the moment :)
