Acer's new build thread

Jaime, Kevin and I got the tank in place today, and got the plumbing finished behind the tank. Pics taken by Kevin will be E-mailed to me and I will post asap.

I am having issues posting pics that were emailed to me. Any ideas how to reformat so I can post them? Got the pics moved to drop box on my PC, But that seems to be as far as I can go. If I try to copy/paste it fails. I could just post a link to my dropbox.

Here's what your first link looks like formatted as mentioned:
Code:
https://dl.dropbox.com/s/te6rt3gid0ch9hh/Resized_20161106_175144.jpeg

Just add IMG tags:
Resized_20161106_175144.jpeg

ok - well - I am old and while I can build a PC ( put together parts) - the whole Software/formatting/Coding is way beyond me. LOL

The pic that "Pittsburgh" reformatted or what ever he did is the back of the new tank showing the plumbing for the drains out of the external overflow box going down to basement and the return coming back up from the basement. I was able to use the left over 1 inch Spa flex, that was used for drains to basement, for the return after the "T" - so much nicer to use than rigid PVC and it creates gentle curve not 90 or 45 degree turns which should help with getting more water from basement to tank in the living room. . .

Ted I saw your pics because I have dropbox and I could see them using my dropbox. I especially liked the last pic with you and Jaime and the tank in place. Very nice!

Cant you just down load lic to your lhone from email then lost them like you normally do

pmasi.com

MY phone has photo-bucket which is easy, but I cant seem to move pics that are emailed to me to photobucket- only to dropbox.

OK - I got one to work. Email-> dropbox-> My computer pictures-> photobucket -> Reef Central

OK those were the best 2 pics - SO if a mod ( MIsled) could please delete the drop box links from post #282 - I thank you

That is weird one more time:

Jamie and I in front of the new tank

Downstairs plumbing is almost done:

<a href="http://s1028.photobucket.com/user/acer327/media/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161109_093918339_zpsuyg83xll.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y342/acer327/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161109_093918339_zpsuyg83xll.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20161109_093918339_zpsuyg83xll.jpg"/></a>

Tank filling- hopefully the last time I carry 5 gallon buckets of water. Well to be honest - my kids did the hard work.

<a href="http://s1028.photobucket.com/user/acer327/media/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161109_093938334_zps6vx7fjsy.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y342/acer327/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161109_093938334_zps6vx7fjsy.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20161109_093938334_zps6vx7fjsy.jpg"/></a>

OK Tank filled - but very cloudy- the one big bag of sand was tough to clean - I cleaned it in 10 pound increments - but it still is cloudy after 2 days.

<a href="http://s1028.photobucket.com/user/acer327/media/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161110_165945372_zpscrwin1no.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y342/acer327/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161110_165945372_zpscrwin1no.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20161110_165945372_zpscrwin1no.jpg"/></a>

This was the bag of sand that was really cloudy:

<a href="http://s1028.photobucket.com/user/acer327/media/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161110_170455186_zpsbgeolx4q.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y342/acer327/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161110_170455186_zpsbgeolx4q.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20161110_170455186_zpsbgeolx4q.jpg"/></a>

This was the bag of sand that needed barely any cleaning - and I like the larger size granules as well. So I will be ordering a bag or two more of this.

<a href="http://s1028.photobucket.com/user/acer327/media/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161110_170510646_zps12hilysa.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y342/acer327/NEW%20150%20BUILD/IMG_20161110_170510646_zps12hilysa.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_20161110_170510646_zps12hilysa.jpg"/></a>

Because it was cloudy I rigged up a makeshift filter sock today :

Ted, you are going to love not lugging 5 gallon buckets of water. I wished I had done a basement sump years ago!

YES - no more lugging water!!!! The new tank water is clearing - but now i can tell the tank is not perfectly level - about 3/8 of an inch low on the right - SHOOT !!! we had it within 1/8 before the tank was filled.

How good is the floor support below the tank? is there a variation in the joist construction from the left ones to the right ones? Maybe around the patch?

Kevin

well I guess that is possible - but the floor joists are 90 degree to the tank - on the same intervals as far as I can tell. But your right the "patch" area may throw that off , just enough with the water weight so you can see it.

Bummer about the 3/8 off level. A big tank like that can be tricky. I hope you figure it out.

I have a brute can if you want to empty water out and try again. If you could borrow a few brute cans you could probably empty the tank, re-level and fill back up without any risk and not too much trouble.

Yep - that is the plan- I could use one more container for water - I will call you. Also thought about using a car jack to lift up the one side just enough to slip in a lift - but draining it would be safer.

Just ordered 2 more 20 pound bags of the Tropic Eden Tonga flake sand from Amazon which bring it up to about 100 pounds of sand total - which should be pretty close to 1.5 inches.

Got the Temp controller hooked up and checked Salinity = 1.020 - not too bad considering it was free pour guess.

Let me know a little ahead if possible Ted. I fill the brute can and make saltwater for the week. I can always move the saltwater into empty salt buckets of which I have many but the emptier the can the easier it will be.
