Achilles tang eating nothing but nori

Good afternoon.

My first post on this great page. I have a medium Achilles tang that since i got it (about 6 months) he has only eaten sheets of nori in the clip as well as attached to a rock by a rubber band. I was wondering if there's a way for him to try something different. I have tried frozen mysis, krill, the veggie cubes, spectrum formula A and the formula for vegetarian fish. All of them infused with garlic and vitamin additives. He shows no interest in any of them just focuses on the sheets of nori. Problem is that recently i noticed that he has been fighting over the nori with my angelfish. I just don't want my Achilles to get stressed out because his only food is being taken away.

Any suggestions?

Maybe try putting dry foods (like flake or pellets) into the the nori and fold it so it doesn't fall out right away. That way when the tang eats the nori and pieces fall out it may mistake the flakes for nori and try some. I got some of my fish to eat using this method

I would not worry too much. Keep feeding him the Nori and he will eventually come around. Just be happy he is happy, fat, and eating.

Two suggestions:

1. Put Nori in two places (e.g. two clips)
2. Stop using garlic, it is bad for fish long term

At least it is eating! Thats always a win...You could also make a homemade blend from the store with fresh food and see if it eats that.

Thank you all for your response. I will try the "wrapp" of different ingredients. I have noticed that he does chase after the pieces of nori that get detached from the sheet.

I have already 2 locations for the nori in the tank but as soon as the angel sees the achilles eating in one place he goes and eats there too! Greedy angel...

I will keep you posted if anything changes. I am happy that at least he is eating fine the nori but those sheets are hard in the water quality...
