Achilles Tang

A buddy of mine is upgrading from a 75 gallon full blown reef tank to a 150 gallon tank (48" x 24" x 30"). His ultimate goal is to have an Achilles tang in it along with his pair of Ocellaris clowns, Diamond Watchman, and Yellow Tang. I do not have any experience with Achilles tangs so I thought I would ask everyone on here what their opinions are as I have seen some sites say 300 gallon + where as others say 6 foot tank, etc. Please don't bash myself or my buddy we just want to know before he invests in one.

Your friend has the exact same fish as you have in your signature.... It's too small long term, if u get a baby you can get a year or so till it will outgrow it

Well I have had him for 2 months in the 65 and the 120 is going up in late September when I get back from vacation and buy my LEDs.

You might encourage your buddy to join here. Achilles tangs, in any event, are best left to experienced reef keepers with large systems. Even then the success level is not good.

I told him to join but he kind of just pokes around on my account. He has been in the hobby for about 5 years now and I myself have been in it a little longer. We both are rookies when it comes to tangs as we are finally getting into some serious sized tanks.
