Nice coral. I have tried twice unsuccessfully in two differsnt systems. I have a 3rd one waiting for me for my new system and I am anxious to get it. Good luck with this piece. Where did you get it?
I'm digging that granulosa beside your Hoeksemai as well.
My hoek not long after I added it. Color has lightened up to a lighter blue with more pronounced green-ringed coralites. Will get some updates pictures soon.

I believe I have a Hoek too but it's coralites are not as defined by most I see. What is that a sign of? I have excellent PE.
My pieces is around a foot tall and maybe 6 extensions but it is a beast being probably close to 1" in diameter.
As for killing this thing or these being tempermental I don't think so, I have had this one about4-5yrs and my reef has gone thru almost complete shutdown but this one has managed to be a survivor. Could it be because I got it from an individual and not wild?

Like your saying LOL
The green ring on each coralite is unique to hoek. I have not seen any other solid blue (both the body and polyps) with a green ring in the polyps. Mine is showing decent growth since I got it a couple of months ago. I also have it in a high flow and mid-tank level. Broke two tiny pieces of the tips while figuring out the best spot to put it in and those two tips are now starting to encrust. Each is less than half inch.
Here's mine but now I am wondering if it is really a Hoek. I think it is anyway. A fast grower for me. It is about 9" across. I got it at about an inch in size less than a year ago.
