Acropora polyps - short video

thanks - (knocks on wood) so far so good

it's a random jazz selection you tube offered called "Cool Flow". the original recording had my wife cleaning the dogs in the background. I thought this may be a bit better

Awesome video, very calming watching the polyps sway.

:headwally: sometimes, its just not fair!

My sps look like poop and I was on dog cleaning duty this evening... Instead of smooth jazz, all I got was the grand symphony played on the worlds Largest violin by the lady of the house. Lets just say there were a lot of crescendos.

 to living vicariously!

Does the video show a standing wave? Do you use the standing wave mode of your WaveBox much?

Although it can create more random patterns, I think by definition the Tunze wave box is designed to get its maximum effect by creating a standing wave, or a wave that utilizes the same pivot point. So I guess my answer is that's all I use the wave box for is a standing wave. But coupled with a couple other power heads and the return with flow accelerators the tank does have turbidity within the fixed pattern generated by the wave box.

I set my tank up with a tall thin rock structure down the middle and a reversible gyre driven by four Hydor K8s. It works well. If Hydor had a standing wave controller I'd give it a shot.

like others have said, beautiful tank and corals. Excellent PE and color! You did a good job putting the video together as well. Does a constant wave put extra stress on a tank or is that just in my head? Thanks for sharing!!

cFloor, not an expert, but i don't think the wave puts any extra stress on the tank, its such a small wave cycle that the weight of the water isn't shifted dramatically.
i guess the greater the volume of water, the greater the weight being moved..

could we have a full tank shot?? or vid?

Great video and awesome corals!

thanks

lol - great line, thanks

I like the Hydors for the price, as they move a lot of water. I had 4 on my 300g tank when it was up and running. I didn't want to drop the bucks on the Tunze but it was the only thing I thought would work in and around the rock wall I have

Nice colors and PE! I wish I could get some of my acros looking like that.

thanks, I've been watching your build, and I'd say your on the right track
