adding filter to 7400

Hi Roger,
I would like to add a filter cartridge on to my 7400s and I want to make sure I get all the right parts. Would the following work:

(2) 1001.780

Can the cartridge filter connect directly to the pump or do I need
(2) 3200? And what is the purpose of the pot type filter?

What is the difference between the filter cartridge 1600.01 and the cartridge core 800.14 and cartridge mat 800.22?

Thanks!
Joe

Sad to say I forgot which part is 1001.78.

You will want either filter 1600, 800 or pot filter 820. 1600 is capable of handling the full flow capacity of your pump. It uses cartridge 1600.01 which is spun acrylic wadding, the cartridge is about 12" tall. 800 is the same but only 8" tall it will clog faster and slightly restrict the pump performance. 820, is a neater filter, it allows you to carry the cartridge away without making a big mess and it is versatile because it will accept refillable cartridges 870 and 871 that allow you to use floss and granular media. 820 also uses cartridge 0800.01. In general with 820 or 800 on a pump of this volume the T adapter should be used with two cartridges. I am not at my desk so I don't have a list of part numbers handy. The 820's can also be stacked without any additional adapter.

1001.780 is a bushing that is suppose to connect the filter to the pump. So, would the T (1001.8) connect directly to the pump or will I still need the bushing?

That bushing piece is the same as the one you have with the strainer so you shouldn't need another one. It is a different T from part 1001.80, I can't remember the part number but when I get back on Sunday I'll check into it, I dohave all these parts on hand.

Sorry, I have been overwhelmed with work lately and forgot. The 820 only needs the 1001.78 which came with your pump to connect the strainer, and if you stack them they just plug into each other, to T them you need part 3200.520.
