AfamousJohnsons 90gallons under the hood "not a Bonsai" mixed reef

Just Keep Swimming
Im glad you guys are here, and I plan on popping by to say hi often so why not drop the 90gallon by the forum.

I had/have a tank thread I used to feed here on RC, but I got sick of all the bashing on my tank so I have not updated for quite some time. Feel you guys can appreciate a tank for what it is so I will be sharing with you'all within here. My scape design was based off of the many bonsai style setups I loved looking at mixed with a design that would be better allowed for a mixed reef therefore it was added as description in my thread title. People could just not handle that hence the disclaimer pun in my new tank thread title. Here is the link to my old tank thread for reference-its actually pretty comical.

It has been crazy over here with the tank lately. I thought things happened in 3's.lol pretty sure im on like 5 or 6 in a few weeks from lights to corals to foul bio pellets.

Made a bunch of changes. Took off the bio pellets and changed out for carbon. It was so clear in the tank today it didnt even look like there was water in it. The corals looked happy also.

The LEDs on the FT took a dive so I used what I had and shifted some things around and put the glo t-5 fixture on there. Looked terrible so I threw in some new different bulbs and man it really pops the colors. Might grow on me as my sps shelf is at 300par so I can deal with that.

Nice to see tank pics not saturated in actinic making. Things look a little over the top. Tank looks very mature for its age. I have a couple of your pieces in my Frag tank and love the Kberry. .

Check out this guy - finally been getting it to its color but still have a ways to go. Teal base with baby blue polyps into the tips where the polyps turn purple and they are capped in yellow. Beaut aussie piece

Nice piece how long have you had it. When it passes the few month mark in my tank its usually good, before then they are iffy for me.

Haha tell me about it. Had it now going on its fifth month - didnt get its color back until it started growing for me and even now it is still coloring up.

Wild piece are suck a love/hate thing when it comes to sps. I think we sps guys love em just because of the challenge and well, the price also. I am getting better at keeping them alive now that I am running my system close to NSW parameters. Although I have one that has taken 6 months to start to show color. All though i think it's gonna be a good one.

The Kberry is still one of my favorites even though it seems to be a real slow grower. Is that normal?

Ya. She grows pretty slow. I moved the colony and have gotten some good results tho - used to just blast her with light - now still good but not so much.
