AI Hydra Settings Thread

Would love to have you check out the new tank. IT is being built into the key feature all in the house
Makes sense on the weather I will turn it off. Curious if I turn weather off what settings for the lights? I am always concerned about bleaching with my 38G. It is deep but the LEDs are strong.

Yes I consider leds lasers. Depending on how high off the water and how close to the water surface your corals are, will determine the specific settings for your tank. The closer the lower, the further the higher. I would definitely bring the uv down to 20% for starters.

So I ordered a hydra 26 to start learning how to mix and match them with regular hydras, and start figuring out best settings for them. I may have to finagle something to mount it since I have the feeling my hanging rails may not reach. I plan on starting a new thread for it.

I'm moving the livestock and corals from my old tank over tonight into my new one, so I will begin the timers tonight. My buddy who works in the business set my lights up, I'll post the settings later and will report how it works out. Pretty sure he toned down the whites and the UV, as you mention as well..

Fantastic to hear! Please continue to post results and maybe some before after shots.

I would love to but my iPhone camera gets odd lines when trying to take pictures with the hydra. Idk I have Canon camera stashed away but yea not much of a pro. Maybe I'll play with it :)

Is your acclimation still on? How far away from the lights are the corals that look brown?

Acclimatation is active at 30%
The corals are approximately 40 cm from the water and ceiling light
are 30 cm consider that I have two ceiling light 3 Hydra56 on both sides and centrally Hydra26

two ceiling light Hydra56 have this setup (photo 1)
.. and Hydra26 has this setup (photo 2)

Did a few parts meter readings at newbie aquarist house last night. The hydra was sitting on 1" acrylic brace since I didn't take the hanging kit. Light was about 2" AWL on a 24" deep tank at 100% on all colors.
Directly under the light the meter stopped at 3000 par. From there as we went lower we were seeing readings from 1800+ at about 4" in the water to 450 par about 16" deep. On the sand bed, if I remember we were at about 250 par. We really should have written the numbers down but were like kids with a new toy...lol the tests were on an apogee par meter on sun. Hopefully he can bring it to my house soon and we can get some readings on the 26

Thinking of lowering my lights, what are your thoughts?

180 gallon tank, 3 Hydra 52's 10.5 ABL. My corals closest to the lights are 9 inches BWL. The PAR at that spot is 310 and the light settings are
B's 100
CW 45
UV 35
V 75
R & G 5

I like to see PAR about 450 and don't know if I can get that much with 1.75 closer. Because of my method of hanging the lights I can only go up and down 1.75 inches at a time.

I just picked a paired of Hydras in blk housing. I am still not sure if I should get the controller or go with the director. Any advice and feedback for these will be greatly appreciated in advance.

I have a Cadlight 100g 48" rimless tank. If I go with the 12" ext rail that will gives ~36" in length for both Hydras and the ext rail. Given that the tank is 48" long, so is there any issue with shadowing on both ends of the tank if hanging abt 10-12" awl and let say if I max at 70-80%?

Director is definitely worth it as Bryan stated. The hydra will cover 24x24 so you might have a a fee inches of shadowing on the edge of the sand bed but if you don't like it you can order the 16" later.

At what depth and inches AWL is the 24x24 spread?
