AI Hydra Settings Thread

We found the corals don't like the white to high. They don't do well, will not open all the way.

That has not been my expierence so far. I got growth polyp extension and good color. Same with the uv. I am running that higher than most and have not had my corals brown on me. Could there be more going one than we are aware of? I am by no means trying to bash or tell others they are wrong. I want to understand how this works. Based on what I am reading I should be having negative results and I am not.

i understand you guys are helping , thanks for that .

I will try to lower the uv and the whites and monitor .

any case my no3 is 0.2 ( salifert ) Po4 is at 0 ( Hanna HI-736 )

can you share your file here ?

Happy to share, but I don't know how. If you can tell me or point me to directions, then I'll link the file.

In my case, whites should stay under 50%, blues under 85% and uv under 25%. Anytime I go over that, I see things going downhill.

Got a new coral and clam yesterday. Restart acclimation 30% with a 2 month ramp. I am still wondering why my observations are not in line with what others have experienced.

How do the 52hydra light quality compare to sol? Opinion on whether upgrade is worth the expense. I already added a supplemental light with uv,gr, red but would be nice to have better control of each color.

Wazzel,

there are honestly so many factors affecting why you and some others can run different or higher settings, as stated throughout the thread like;

getting corals already growing under LED's
height of aquascape
clarity of water
type of coral
height of lights
etc..

nothing in this thread is bible, it is just a guide for some to get their lights up and running and others to get them close to a safe spot ready for tweaking based on their corals needs. Some people have colonies that can't be easily moved around so lights must go lower, others have frags that can easily be re-positioned for higher light settings. Please do continue to post your successes so that others with similar setups can benefit.

I very much understand that no two systems are the same. I tend to make that point myself from time to time. So I will continue along my path unless something in my system drives me to make a change.

Zibba,

I don't know if the forum rules specifically prohibit sharing links to files or not, but....

If you have Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive you could share a public link with those.

If you need instructions, let me know and I will write out some for you.

Thank you for sharing,

Adrian

I have dropbox, so I'm good there. How do you save the settings to a file?

I believe the Sol's come with 24 LEDs, the 52's with 52, that and the director and it's a different beast. there are a few on here that have upgraded to Hydras and enjoy the change. hopefully they will chime in.

Here are Zibba's settings, minus 3 hours. I am home most of the day and wanted to see my tank lit while I am home.

Hope this saves someone some time.

Once again, thank you Zibba. Your settings look great!

Didn't realize there was a "share" button on the AI Director page. Here's a link if anyone is interested.
