AI Hydra Settings Thread

I have 3 Hydra 52HD's (sadly they don't work with my Neptune)... the interface allows you to save your settings to a file.

Wouldn't it be nice for AI to have a forum where they have custom settings you can download, and have a place where members could upload and share their own?

For the life of me I can't understand how they could have a great function like this and have no mechanism for users to share.

:headwallblue:

I've just got my hydra 52 how do I have complete darkness for 10 hours or so then turn them back on in the morning automatically?

My lights are offline when I try to get them online it's asking for a password. I don't believe I've ever set one up. Anyone having this issue? Can someone help?

Hi Guys,

Been lurking this thread for a while since I am in the process of getting my AI Hydra 26HD's in the next day or so, so this discussion has been great for me to see what everyone else is running program wise.

Now the time has come for me to set mine up and after scrolling thru the many pages on here I have come up with some settings for me as a start anyway and would like some feedback from other on if this is good bad not enough etc. I am new to LED's as I am currently upgrading to the Hydra's from T5's.

The set up I am looking at is to try give my tank as much light as I can to start with whilst acclimitising it to from the T5's to the LED's and well I don't want too much and burn the corals but I also don't want to go too little to start with and have that negative impact also. The tank is RSM500 S Series so It is used to having 4hrs of 8 T5's 4hr's of 10 T5's and 1 hour ramp up and 1hr ramp down of 2 T5's.........Would like to think that this is a decent amount of light so the corals would handle some reasonable LED light from the start (could be wrong). Tank is mixed reef with more SPS then LPS at the present.

The settings I am looking at using for the start atleast are as follows.

CW = 40%
RB = 60%
B = 60%
V = 50%
UV = 30%
DR = 15%
G = 15%

Using the 75% acclimation mode over 3-4 weeks. Lights to run around 11hrs with 4.5hrs of max settings and an equal ramp up time before and after this......Not sure if this is sufficient or I should run longer times? I currently have abit of GHA I am combatting so I don't want to help this thing grow like crazy.

I will be using 3 hydra 26's (for a start atleast) over my tank so I am thinking this should be enough anyway.

Any help on my settings would be greatly appreciated.

I know setting options are very subjective. I've been running my Hydra 52 for about 14 months and love it.

I'm battling some brown/red cyano on the sand. Nothing crazy but I thought I'd try less lighting.

Right now my lights are on 24 hours a day, with the main time being 12-9pm...with a "blue" night time light.

Should I try a schedule of only 8 hours a day with the light completely shut off the rest of the time? That might help my algae issues?

thanks!

I would say those setting are pretty good based on the amount of light you had before... shouldn't be too much IMO... you will probably want to play with it a bit as that is right much white

Call me crazy.. but I used to have issues with running a moon light all night and cyano as well... it's by no means the cause of the problem.. but could be a contributing factor... And one that could easily be removed...

I would aim for 6-8 hours of peak time with a ramp and down period with total darkness over night... again it's all relative to the system and no one size fits all... just my opinion

I have one for everyone's opinion..

I am running one hydra 26hd over my 74 tower (24x24x30 deep) I have my blues at about 75% white at about 35 and others around 10-15...

I am about to add a second 26hd for more even coverage.. would I need to lower the totals for both lights by a percentage? Or run acclimation mode or what?

Lower for sure. I had 1 hydra52 and added a second one for full coverage. Almost cooked my tank. The power is additive just not sure by how much.

Yea that's kinda what I am wondering... I'm going to be moving them directly over some corals where now they are in the middle with most corals to the side... I'm gonna take em down at least 25% I think to start

Not a light issue. Try more flow or better placement of power heads.
