AI Hydra Settings Thread

Only problem I see for me is my led count is different on my regular hydra 52 to you hd version. You have equal amount of white, blue, and royal but mine. First pic is of the regular hydra 52 and second is your hd version. So I would have to fine how much to reduce on some colors and raise on on others to get the same as you for spectrum

Essentially you have 8% less white diodes and 8% more blue. So say my schedule averages 25% white and 80% blue you should theoretically be running somewhere around 15-20% white and 70ish% blue channels i would think. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I went back in this thread and found this guys settings and tried them and I like them a lot. So I'm going to stick to them and see how this plays out.

I always liked a less blue tank. Although I did notice colors were more rich than they were before so hopefully the color sticks.

Tank looks a lot more natural this way and I hope it stays this way. Still at 280 to 300 par

Okay so I know it's been awhile since my last update (life has decided everything must happen at once haha), but I wanted to post a quick blurb on my tank progress over the past few weeks under my sps ab+ profile.

I have to say I am throughly impressed by the results. I still hate the overall look of the tank but can not argue with the overall health and color of my corals. I hope you all enjoy the updated pics and I can't wait to see where this profile takes my tank over the coming months!!!

Looks great! Couple questions:

1. Size of the tank
2. How high AWL is the light?
3. Depth of tank to bottom.

It's a standard 29 gallon so 30" wide x 20" high x 12" wide. I'm running a hydra 52hd and an ai prime hd 15" AWL :)

If someone sends you their light setup config via the app, how can you view that? It says it is saving to my myai app, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to view the settings that someone sent me.

Cheers.

Are you using an hang-on pump on the right to work that refugium? And what light are you using?

Yup just a tiny powerhead. It's the finnex fuge package they sell on amazon. It comes with the pump, tubing, finnex fuge ray, and marina 1 gallon refugium. The setup works wonders, I hack out a softball sized chunk of chaeto a week. I harvested last Sunday leaving a baseball sized chunk and this was how much it had regrown as of last night.

Having AWESOME success with the SPS AB+ mock profile on the Hydra 26.
Only seeing my tank every few days. It's located at my ladies house (and will be until we get married in a few weeks and I move in). Until then, I've trained her well to dose my ZEOvit products :D. Anyways, my corals are loving it. Every time I come back I see slightly newer growth. My colors are getting outstanding. For example this acro below. 2 weeks apart. I picked it up as a bright pink mini colony, sitting at the bottom of my LFS's sps tank. The other day when I did my water change, I noticed a very vibrant blue color forming.

Did a 35% Acclimation period which ends January 21st. So it's almost finish. From there I'll leave it be. LED's biggest issues revolve from users constantly changing settings. So I want to only go more intense when absolutely needed.

Tanks looks great, how much off your growth came while you were running the t5 / hydra combo ? I'm changing over to Hydra 26hd (x3) and 4x T-5 and looking for a little guidance as far as timing. Did you just have the T5 running at the start of each day or for mid day? At this point I'm running 2B+ from 10-8 , 2C+ from 1-5 and using a close variant of Wassel's hydra settings with 5 hr ramps and peak lighting1-5. Still in acclimation mode. Thanks for any input!!

I'd have to say I haven't seen a extreme amount of growth when adding the t5 but a little. I also run 4-t5 so it's a big drop in led% to keep the par the same or even a little higher as I run the 4hrs midday. So I run the leds by them selves at 50% and then 25% while the t5 are on. I have found if I go higher % I start to fade the colors.

I bought a used pair of hydras and the deep blue leds are out on both lights. Is there a way to replace just the deep blues?

Is it the original Hydra? If it is an issue with the actual LEDs, you have to replace the whole color puck, unfortunately (4 per light.) AI sells the individual pucks for $50 on their site. If the deep blues on all four pucks are out on both lights, it might be an issue with the control boards rather than the light pucks. I'd go onto AI's website and check with their support and they might be able to tell you for sure.

So I just uploaded the 12" profile that you created Oculus, with help from Heinz. I will post before and after pics here in a month or two. I had to adjust the height of my 26HD as I just took possession of the new hydra gooseneck which moved my light from 5.5" to 12" AWL.

Thanks for taking the time to create this profile and share it, it really says a lot about Ecotech to create this profile for their customers based upon results, hopefully we will see more of these "standard" profiles come out from the different LED manufacturers like AI going forward. More to come.
