Aiptasia-vs-Peppermint shrimp

Geesh.....that was QUICK!

I had at least 12-15 aips (probably many more) pop up recently and one was quite large. About a week ago, I added some peppermint shrimp and now, all but one are gone! The lone aiptasia that I see is hiding between the glass and a zoa colony.

Absolutely mind boggling!
Finally, something worked as advertised!

Peppermint shrimps worked for me as well and it was very quickly and I have yet to see them come back… Even now that I no longer have the Peppermint…

Be careful if you have ornamenal anemones that you want to keep in the same tank. Mine ate three different rock anemones when they ran out of Majano's and Aips...

Supposedly they're also rumored to eat flatworms. I've not witnessed it, but my flatworms are maintained to small numbers by something, and I've got a feeling it my be my two peppermint shrimp. :)

I caught mine eating zoanthus.

Tell me more.
Did they slowly disappear? Quickly?

This worries me because that's the only corals I have in the tank.

I think peppermints are one of the best aiptasia controls. The fact that they do some damage to other poyps on occassion just falls under the nothing is perfect rule.

When I had mine, they did the samething, they wipe out all the aiptasia, majano, rock anemone, and tulip anemone. I have no anemone left.....After anemones were completely gone, so did the Peppermints......

They seemed to be thinning out. I watched one night and saw the shrimp hovering over them picking . I thought it was eating some left over cyclopeeze or hunting pods. Then I saw it rip off a blowpop zonathus polyp and eat it. I chased it away and trapped and moved the pepermints out of this tank during the course onf the following week. I did not expect it but definately saw it.
