All that is needed to be a good clownfish owner?????

Hello everyone !!! I want to keep a pair of true percula clownfish in my 24 aquapod and i need to know everything or the most inportant things to be able to keep this fish happy? Please if you can also provide information about the most common deseases and ways to cure them?? Here is my stocking list for my 24 Aquapod :

Pair of True Percula Clownfish

Yellow Coris Wrasse or Flasher Wrasse ( i haven't decide yet)

Blue Spot Jawfish

Ich! Freshwater dip and hyposalinity. A clean tank with good water conditions. Are you keeping coral or an anemone or live rock?

I would skip putting any flasher wrasse in that sized tank, and same for the blue spot jawfish (( in addition they have a terrible track record, and IMO, should be left in the ocean )).

IMHO, the most important part of caring for clowns is food, and low stress. They're little pigs, and need lots of food. They should be thick, muscular little fish with bright colors. All to often, I see thin sickly little clowns from malnutrition and/or stressful environments.

Get a copy of the book 'Clownfishes', a guide to their captive care, breeding & natural history by Joyce D. Wilkerson. +1 for leaving the bluespot jawfish & wrasses out of the mix. How long has your tank been up & running? Good luck!

I wouldn't do a freshwater dip, it won't really do anything for ich. Just buy a healthy ocellaris from a reputable local store. Make sure it is a captive bred one and in a separate tank from other wild caught fish, you shouldn't have to worry about ich on that. For other fish, especially wild caught you will probably want to quarantine them for a few weeks.

1. QT - If it has ich or brook, return it. Don't bother treating it. Why stress the fish and yourself?
2. Read up on Brook (brooklynella). Especially with wild caught percs.
3. Feed more than you think. I was feeding a decent amount as far as I was concerned. Then read some more posts and decided to feed more. The fish are growing faster and look better. I really thought they looked fine before... not skinny, but not nice and plump like others have. Also I think that the right food is important (read variety). But like others said, feeding them enough is the most important of all.
4. Only 2 clowns per tank, and don't mix species. Some can break this rule, but that is another story all together.

I have had a pair of black Ocellaris for ever. I've never had problem with ich!! Just do your weekly water change and feed them right. You will be a good owner. Yellow coris wrasse will be fine in there with them. I can't keep bluespot jaw fish in my tank. They always jump out! No matter how I cover the tank up for them not to jump out.
