As some of you may know, after a lengthy wait I finally have myself a fantastic looking mag.
Here is a picture of my 60 x 24 x 21 tank today, with the mag in the left corner.

Now a fantastic looking mag has become available and I must say, it looks stunning. The fellow reefer has had it for a couple of months and traded it back into the LFS for a very reasonable price.

What are your thoughts on...

2 mags in my tank, will it be ok?
The colour looks stunning, will it remain the same colour?

It should be fine. Most mags are colonial and can give together. The challenge for you might be figuring out where it goes, and that's a good challenge to have.

In terms of color, it actually looks a bit bleached. I'd expect it to color up more.

I was think the same thing but really hoping to see if such mags existed with these colours. What do you think the chances are that it's naturally pale?

Mine did 3 laps around my tank until it got happy. Oh course it ended up over my 6 inch mushroom. The shroom is done:(

It is very nice. Of course you will have to find a place for it. Your tank look kinda full. Something must come out for it to come in.

I know......
this is a bad addiction with something so big. What are your thought on the colour? Thats the most stunning thing about it.

Everything in my tank is happy and settled. I want it but not sure if its worth upsetting things.

That anemone while not sick, he is not in the very best of health. Under brighter light, he should have very bright purple/violet column and likely yellow/greenish tentacles. He would be a first rate anemone.
If I am you, I would get him first and remove that polyp infested rock on the other side of the tank from you current anemone for him. :) :) :)

Minh, you realise that comments like "He would be a first rate anemone" is a trigger for acts of stupidity ???
Getting rid of the polyps, picking him up tomorrow, 200m round trip, you guys here are all bad....

:hammer: :wildone:

So after 5 hours in the cold on the motorbike I finally get home with the mag. I was freezing....
He's been in my tank 24 hours and it's stayed in the same spot and mouth is still closed. It's around 4inches so quite small. I'm suspecting the mag has been in a bit of decline but still looking looking good. I'm sure it looks a lot bigger in the video in the 1st post
Here is a short video, it's actually a bit paler in the flesh, violet base, pale pinky the tickles and light yellow/green tips

Here is a photo of the mouth. The camera is making it look blue but in fact it is pale pink.

What do you guys think?

Thanks minh, I hope he'll be ok. the reefer bought it early august this year and if you look at his video it had much longer tenticles whereas they look really short and stubby when I got him, but I guess he will hopefully fully recover? do you think it was in a slow decline over the past few months?

Looks like mine first did when I got it

I was just super lucky it survived my tank. It has been through the drain, chopped up twice in a powerhead and still keeps on ticking. Pretty resilient once they settle in. Now it looks like this

I also have a second mag and they don't bother each other. As long as it stays the way it is, I'm sure it'll gain its color back and be just fine.

I think her was not in optimal condition so did not reach his full potential. I think you will be able to do a much better job for him. Good luck.

Just an update, the new mag continues to do well and is growing slowly. I moved him over to the rock containing the zoas and a RBTA over the weekend.
The magnifica definately feels heavier and more solid than when I purchased him
I couldn't get the RBTA off so am hoping the mag would encourage it to move un-willingly. I am also hoping the magnifica will kill off the zoas over time as it blocks out the light.
Will post a updated picture up tonight

I keep Magnifica, Haddoni, Gigantea together without problem. I change about 50 gal in a 250 ga system weekly (use this water fromy clown growout tank). I don't use carbon. I do use a skimmer but no ozone or any high tech water treatment.
