Am I just crazy or is my Anemone broken?

My RBTA has always been a pretty round spherical shape. Here recently in the last couple of days the bottom part of the crown has gotten a lobe and looks like it may be splitting in half; is this normal? What is possibly going on?

Its just a BTA, Green BTA, or GBTA. But on the good note it looks really good and healthy. I wouldnt worry about it to much. As for splitting you never know. One day it will be whole and the next day you will have two of them in there.

It looks like a bubble tip to me but not a Rose bubble tip but possibly a green one?
My RBTA goes like that across my rocks and up the glass on one side of my tank and its fine. Its also now about 10" across when fully open. If its splitting you would see a thinning of the tissue as it separates itself into 2 pieces. There are a few pics of this happening in the forums

Here is a pretty old pic of mine showing how they both stretch out in weird shapes. The lower one is a clone to the higher one...

I feel like it's very healthy and it hasn't been acting funny other than this. I thought maybe it was growing larger, but in a weird shape. I don't mind how large it gets cause it's beautiful and one of my favorites in my tank. Thank you for the help......When they move it's just where they are happy to rest, right?

Yes they will move to a place they like. Mine have stayed within the same spot since I put the one in over a yr ago and the clone to where it attached. They may move the heads around a little but the feet stay in the same place all the time. Dont count on it to be that way all the time though and be ready to move stuff if needed

BTAs are pretty prone to moving around, even after they've been in one place for a long time. To answer the question in your original post, they do split. It's a means of asexual reproduction. They can split if they're stressed, or when they're doing well. Yours looks pretty happy, so I wouldn't worry too much. The only downside is that the clone usually travels. That could spell trouble for corals that are in its path.

So that being said........If it splits what do I do with the clone? If it goes to a place where it is happy and doesn't take up too much room I will leave it, on the other hand What can I do if I don't want it in my display? I live in Smithville TN and I think I AM THE ONLY REEFER in this area........I don't even know how to remove it from the tank or keeping it safe in transport.....(I need help)

mthomp- I do not have a "LOCAL" local Fish Store the closest one is Cookeville, TN or Nashville, TN.....what would be the parameter if I decided to transport it. How do I remove it from LR when it splits?
