Amphiprion nigripes owners?

I have been watching a couple of these black finned clownfish at the lfs. Looking for people that can tell me a bit of what to expect from them. Are they as mean as Clarki's? has onyone had them host other nems besides Magnifica? How big a tank do the two of em need?

I do not have any personal experience with them besides owning a pair for a week before they died from what I believe was brook. They are notoriously poor shippers but if they have survived at your LFS for a few weeks then they may be worth a shot, but I would definitely quarantine them for at least a month and be ready with formalin if they show signs of brook.

Since they are a member of the skunk complex they should tend to be a little on the shy side. I'm not sure about aggressiveness but would not think that they would not be as aggressive as members of the Clarkii complex. Maybe someone with personal experience will chime in. A pair could be housed in a tank as small as 20 gallons but you would want something bigger if you are going to keep an anemone with them. Although they are hosted by only magnifica's in the wild, I believe there are members here that have them hosted by other anemones in their tanks.

I had one for years. (Gave her to someone looking to breed them). She always stayed in or within a few inches of her GBTA. Whenever you looked at her she would be watching you. They tend to be shy and more skunk like. Not at all like a Clarkii that would come out and bite you.

Pictures in my gallery.

Have a breeding pair. The female was named Cujo as a juvenile, she earned the moniker. Inch for inch, quite aggressive. Male follows her lead, but she has/will stand her ground against any and all comers.

Once acclimated, they appear bullet proof. Prior to acclimation of a few weeks, they are extremely touchy.

my ora tank bred A. nigripes is going on six years. it shares a 100gallon with a purple tang, copperbanded butterflyfish and ora indigo dottyack hybird. all get along very well together.
i've tried sebae anemones and bta's, both were accepted. there have been pic's of them with a S. haddoni carpet anemone posted on this forum.

Thanks for the replys. Cujo is awsome!!

Hopefully they are still at the lfs tommorow. I have a 55g long setup for them. I think it should do, down the line I may add a nem.
