Anyone have a good suggestion for a top off pump for the system?

I have an Apex that I can leverage to help with the process.

My gravity feed from the 100 gal RO/DI barrel doesn't provide enough pressure at its current height and I don't really want to raise it higher...

Dave,

For my main system I have my RO line tied into a Spectrapure Controller which then feeds through my Kalk Stirrer and then into my sump. The controller is plugged into my Apex (Fallback OFF, Set OFF, If Switchx4_1 CLOSED Then ON), so I can monitor how much water I am losing to evaporation, etc.

For my QT's, when they are not connected to my main system, I use a Tom's Aquatics Aqua Lifter Pump that plugs connects to a Spectrapure Controller that I also have plugged into my Apex.

Hope this helps.

I use a Tom's lifter pump in mine and it has worked great for years. All the pump needs to do is pump water and you really want a low volume pump so the lifter pump is cheap and does the job. If your worried get couple to run together, this way if one stops the other will still be running. You'll have double switches and double pumps.

I used a mj1200 with 2 float switches. I have the pump on a timer as well. It only kicks on at 2am and 1pm for at most 2minutes. I adjust it as needed due to evaporation of tank. It would run full 2 minutes if needed or shut off early if float switch was satisfied.

Hi Wayne, What is your first choice if you just received some lottery winnings? :lolspin:

The JBJ. Tunzes are great products but only over priced because they come from Germany. If it was US made they would be cheaper. Everything is being copied so much these days that they try to set themselves apart by their gimmicks.

Hi Dan!

Thanks for weighing in on this top off strategy. That sounds like a great plan to run the top off water through your kalk stirrer! Hmmm maybe I should make one of those!

Thanks for the feedback and the Apex settings... That will help out a ton! :wavehand:

Hey Cory,

Thanks for your idea! I have tons of mj1200's laying around but I think I have modded all of them! :lolspin:

Simple and effective... nice! Thank you!

Good point Wayne! How is your knee buddy? I think we should all come to your place after MACNA and finish off what you need done on your build!

You game? :fish1::fish1::fish1:

Man I try not to get jealous of anything, maybe if there is a woman involved, but your reef is outstanding.

Thanks for your kind words! I'm stoked to share it with everyone! You are welcome to pirate my pictures and tell all your friends that its your reef! I'm cool with that!

Knee is still bad. I'm still confused about how I have a hole in my knee. Either way I hope to see you and the rest of the players at MACNA. Afterwards ill see what we can do.
