Anderson Family Reef - 1200 Gallon System

geaux xman - Thanks for asking... I am using a Refuge light for a short season. The frag tank is removable so I plan on only using it when I am treating or welcoming new corals. Right now it has corals from the 150 frag tank that are just in a holding pattern.

WOW! I have seen you on the local forums, but don't remember seeing your tank on there!

I now exactly which tank your big tangs are in, I am yet to make it down that way to check out the new store!

What is your policy on locals taking a tour? lol

I am building a house in Herriman, so we will be semi neighbors in just a few months!
 
How do you manage to integrate so many tangs into a tank? I have a regal, goldrim and yellow tang and every time i try to add a new purple tang, they fight and the new one gets stressed never makes it.
 
08TRDOFFROAD - Thanks for reaching out! Come by anytime! I saw the 22 fish in that huge tank yesterday on my lunch break and they are doing AWESOME!!! You will love Herriman, we built a home in The Cove at Herriman Springs in 07'

flakey - I would suggest an acclimation box for your fish to go in prior to you releasing them into the main tank. I added them all at the same time for the first group. Then removed some big ones and added the second round that same day.

Ok, so my friend Jared and I made a road trip to Southern California this past weekend to pick up some UNBELIEVABLE acros from our new friend Steve. We also went by many local stores down there to find some sweet pieces. All of the frags/mini colonies have great color and made the trip back to Utah no problem. I think I grabbed somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 different frags of name brand species. I spent some time acclimating them and dipping them to make sure they are clean before moving them to the main system. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

milonedp - Thanks for asking. So I met Steve at a reef show in Southern California a few years ago and have gained an appreciation for his attention to detail with treating for pests in his system. After seeing it in person and carefully looking at his many colonies I feel good about the quality of his product in regards to pests. In this case I treated with Revive and turkey basted the corals off then rinsed them in fresh tank water. I picked up a few other pieces from local stores that are still in quarantine and will be for a few weeks.

Thanks so much for the info as I upgrade to a much larger system I want to improve my QT / Dipping methods, not willing to take chances going forward.
