anemone at night

I recently got my first anemone and wasn't sure if behavior is normal. RBTA that previous owner had for 13 years and is about 9" when fully expanded.

It settled into a sizeable cave, and when the light is on, extends out even to the face of the rock, but when lights begin to dim, begins to retract into the cave. Is this normal?

Completely normal. Wait until the first time you see it expel waste

My gig does something similar. During the day it hugs the ground and looks like a crumbled carpet, but at night it raises up to look more like a mushroom.
Other anemones expand during the day to catch as much light as possible but retract during the night.
