I have a small rose bta and lately he has been looking deflated. tentacles are limp lets go of rock easily and a small bit of white substance has come from his mouth which was pretty open. Is it dieing?:thumbdown

Can you post a pic and give us some more info about your tank please? Lighting, tank size, how long have you had the anemone...

I dont have any way to post pic connector for camera to cpu is lost... its a 35g solana with 100%normal trace element levels and metal hailides. Water flow is NOT directed at ameone but i have done that twice because it backed itself into a hole and wasnt getting enough light. It has been on and off over the past two days like this. One minuite its fine I walk over to the tank an hour later and it looks terrible.

What are your actual water parameters in numbers? & did you acclimate the anemone to your halides? If it's hiding in a hole, it sounds to me like it may be getting too much light.

Nitrate around 0ppm ammonia around 0ppm running chem pure and activated carbon with skimmer of course. Ph 8.3 calcium 400ppm alk 10KH. acclimate it to the hailides? It looked amazing yesterday night about 2 hours after my first post. and Again today around the same time it looks like its dieing. I fed it ons tiny mysis shrimp so it might be taking/finishing taking a dump. Its super small so that is efficient enough food. The anemone is in the top right corner of my aqua scamp on a moveable piece of rock about halfway up the tank. Idk the dimensions exactly but ik its a solana. I'll check current Usa website and try to get them.

mkay the light is 150watt 14k and the dimensions are 22"L x 22"W x 32"H and the light is suspended about 5inches or so from the water

Now when I walk over to my tank my Nem looks amazing. We'll see what it looks like tomorrow when I'm not running around and home most of the day. Goin to lfs

Give it time. It sounds like it it's still adjusting. Make sure to properly feed. I feed mine DT's and silversides twice a week. If it's still moving it's not happy.

Where should I move the anemone cuz i sometimes wake up and its on the sand bed/ half on the rock half on the sand bed moving around. I found a nice little piece of live rock that has a hole just the right size to fit its foot and it grabbed on. We'll see how it does. So placement wise I should try to move it? and I feed it one mysis shrimp once a week Its an extremely small anemone about the size of two quarters(more or less)

Well site wont let me upload pics....... I had taken them around 7:30am looked amazing. at 10:00am it looked all shriveled up again. Looked fine again when I got home round 2. Salinity was at 40ppt instead of 35. Fixed that tho. Could that have been causing stress?

Pics Worked!!! :)

Pics Worked!!! :)

Yay pics worked!!!! :) anyways How much should I feed this little guy? I'm feeding him one or two mysis twice a week.

My advise is to not move it. If you move it and it moves away then you are obviously moving it to where it dont want to be. If you don't like where it is at then you will have to change things such as water flow to coax it into not liking that spot. I'd still only do this as a last resort. Better for it to live behind your rock than to die. If it does not like the lighting where it is at then it will move to suit it's needs.

Feed it when ever you want. A few mysis twice a week sounds fine. These things go more on light than feedings so I'd really just feed it when the tentacles are extended.

I dont want to move it I had put it there after if had backed itself into a corner where it wasnt getting enough light. Just aimed powerhead at it then put in on a little Crevace in the rock so it could attach its foot like they love to do. If he shrivels again Today I'll take some pics. But for now hes all good.

Great News yo!!! :) My rose BTA is fine. I had fed him and he had just been excreating waste. I'm going to feed him once a week again so that I don't have to deal with the stress of thinking he's dieing. He moved to the bottom of the tank and looked great ALL day and didnt shrivel. I guess he had just been excreating waste but by the time I got there he had ewither just begun or had just finished. All is fine. Thanks for the help tho

yeah if you dont have clowns that host it i found that they do better if feed weekly. I have a RBTA goe it prob 2 months ago, was about the size of a tennis ball now its about 7in round. I have 2 clowns that host it but i still give it a piece of shrimp every now and then if i see my clowns being lazy and food hogs. Hope yours fines its happen spot, I know the ones i have the base hates light, all of mine has put there base inbetween 2 rocks and sorta reaches over them and spreads over rocks. but you can never really move it were you want it. it will go were it wants.

From what i have been told:
If a nem detaches and moves its often due to water quality, it deataches and floats to a newer cleaner spot in the ocean, in the aquariam this results in a short death through the powerhead.

If it seems to be crawling over the rock its trying to find the light and flow it wants. but will stay attached. My current nem was attach on a rock when i bought it and crawled about 5 inches higher up and settled there for the past 2 months. took it 2 days to find a spot that was 5 inches away.

HTH

thx. Mine moved down on the rock and has been fine. My water quality was iffy before but its excelent now. All is well In my tank
