Anemone Dominated Breeding Grounds.... The Journey Has Begun

Update:

Spawn 2 27 DPH

These guys are doing good. They have been moved to a 20g to allow the use of the 5g for new fry. I was suppose to have a hatch on Christmas but the parents ate the eggs, they went one day long, possibly due to my light cycle having issues (bad ballast).

I was able to get 5 babies out of Spawn 4, but they may not make it past a couple days.

Spawn 3 14 DPH

These guys are still at 5, they have been moved to the 20g with spawn 2. So far I have seen no aggression between the two spawns despite the size difference. Spawn 3 is doing fine, I figured with only 5 left either they make it or they don't.

I have plans to aquire 6 RBTA's at a pretty good price, these RBTA's will go into the 55g tank I have that will be one of the eventual growout tanks. I would like to cycle most of the clowns through this 55g tank with RBTA's to get the juveniles use to associating with RBTA's before they get sold/shipped off to LFS's.

Update:

Not much but figured I would post a picture of the oldest juveniles which are now right around 1 month old.

Figured I would add some pictures and a video from last night. I bought those RBTA's off of John (Thanks again, and nice meeting you) and as such most of them went into the 55g (future growout for the clowns). One of them however went temporarily into the 20g with the babies. These guys are 30 DPH and already some of them are associating with the nem, goes to show that association isn't something that they learn in the wild, it is encoded in them from birth. I get this question a lot, "will captive bred clowns know to go into my sea anemone", hope this answers that question :). Not to mention its always cool to see clowns in nems.

And of course a short video I threw together with the clowns cruising through the nem, and of the ones who have decided they like the corner of the tank better.

what is your feeding regiment? Rotifer as first food. When do you switch to second food? (otohime A?) Then which food next?
I am thinking of raising my Onxy batch over the next few weeks.
Thanks

Rotifers 1-10
OtoA 4-20
OtoB 15-30

Next food is crushed pellets/flakes which I have just started to introduce, they are taking to it fine so I will probably switch off the OtoB in a few days and just do Crushed pellets/flakes (pellets/flakes are Reef Nutrition Formula II)

I feed at least twice a day, although with the rotifers and a low clown density you can just tint the water green with, in my case, rotigrow+. That keeps the rotifers in the fry tank breeding, and keeps the population up so you only have to feed the rotifers, after day 10 or so I let the rotifers crash and do a water change after to remove nutrients before they decompose.

Awesome thread and congrats to you :)
I may have some questions for you in the future if i run into any problems.
I am currently planning on setting up 4, 40 gallon breeders with dividers in 3 of them giving me a place to house 7 pairs. the 4th without is for the maroons that get too big for a half tank.
Rbta's look great also.

I am definately not the most experienced at raising clownfish but I will happily share anything I have learned. Feel free to ask any questions anytime :)

Thanks!! i have never raised them so all i have is reading experience with raising them. I have some great plans for raising them though LOL

Since adding the RBTA to the 20g tank with the clownfish all but two of them have associated with the nem.

I will have to take a new video of the little guys, it is pretty cool to see all the babies cruising around in the nem. When I get near the tank though they all circle above it like sharks looking for food (they have already figured out that food falls from the heavens)

Thanks to Tyler, I am raising my baby clowns. No loss after the second night so far (and only 1 death the second night).
Tyler,
When you start OtoA, do you mix them in with the water than poor into the tank or do you sprinkle them on top?

Sprinkle them on top, no overflow so not to worried about loss of food. I feed a very small amount for the first few days (if you were to count the individual small pellets I feed approx 50 for the first couple days).

Once I see a majority of the fish "hunting" the oto, I stop feeding my rotifers until they crash out (then perform a water change).

Quick video I made tonight of the clowns, now 47 DPH and moved the the 55g, their final home until they move out of my house.
