Anemone QT questions

I'm getting a carpet anem from a local reefer who has had it for months now in a few wks (possibly sooner) I have a 10g with egg rate, a light a heater and a HOB filter and a piece of LR if needed and power heads. My question is what to put on the bottom of the tank if anything since I don't want the anem to attach to the glass if possible. I also am going to proactively treat the carpet with cipro or levo just to be safe, is this advisable? My DT has been setup now over a yr and some of the rock in the tank is going on 7 yrs now from previous set ups. Those who keep them successfully tell me how you QT and what has made you successful with them? Also my DT has a lot of flow (160x turn over) via closed loop with penductors thru 2-2" bulkheads with strainers that don't have a lot of suction power to them since I have two and they are oversized. Should the CL be turned off until the anem finds its spot in the tank? Other issue is at night the CL turns off and my MP60 comes on to provide less flow in the tank but I am more worried about the MP chopping the anem up then the CL. I guess I'm just not sure if the anem will settle in a spot if I don't turn the CL off? Thoughts

Are we talking about a Haddoni or Gigantea?

If Haddoni, I wouldn't treat just yet. I would observe in QT and get him eating.

If Gigantea, I would treat from day one and observe for quite a while before I put him in DT.

I would turn down flow until he settles in.

Any other Nems in tank?

Be sure to post pics on day received- so we can assess him.

Haddoni, no other anemones in the tank.

Haddoni's are a lot easier to treat than a Gigantea or Magnifica.

If it were me, I would put him in the qt for 2-4 days and look at him. Maybe see if he'll eat a small piece of food. Do not feed silversides! I would use your DT water. Then you will not need to acclimate when done with observation.

It's been my experience that a Haddoni likes to be at the edge of the reef and in the sand. If you put him where you want him, and turn off all the flow so he won't move, they will usually attach to that place in less than an hour and stay put. Sometimes it takes longer depending on the Haddoni.

Anyway, if the mouth is completely closed and tight and he is fully inflated and looking good. You can put him in DT.

Here's mine...

Ok no silversides, check. What about krill or jumbo mysis? I can get whatever I need from the seafood market so that isn't a problem, or from my LFS

Just get a bag if frozen seafood mix from your local grocery store. Don't feed it anything too big. Little chunks the size of a pencils eraser are good. Or the size of a pinto bean.

Thank you for all of the information, you have been very helpful. I have a lot of experience with fish and corals and most every invert except anemones. I will post a pic when I get the carpet to see what you think of overall health and if cipro is needed.
